Businesses like River City Gymnastics help shape the future of Converse by investing in young people and creating spaces where they feel encouraged to grow.

Through decades of dedication, Coach Sandee has helped generations of students build confidence, discipline, and resilience that extends far beyond gymnastics.

That commitment to people and community reflects the kind of leadership that continues moving Converse forward together.

Meet Coach Sandee, the heart behind River City Gymnastics.

Sandee Bogart began her gymnastics journey at just 10 years old through a middle school acrobatics class. That passion eventually led her to compete at both Alamo Heights High School and South West Texas University before building a career dedicated to coaching and mentorship.

Today, with 49 years of coaching experience and 36 years as owner of River City Gymnastics, Sandee continues helping young athletes across Converse build confidence, discipline, and resilience one class at a time.

Economic development is more than attracting new businesses and projects; it is also about helping build a strong local workforce for the future. Partnerships with programs like the Judson ISD CTE program help prepare students with real-world skills while supporting the long-term needs of our local economy.

When students connect classroom learning to hands-on career opportunities, it creates confidence, inspires future goals, and helps businesses develop the skilled workforce they need to continue growing in City of Converse.

The Converse EDC is proud to support efforts that invest in our students, strengthen our business community, and help create brighter futures for the next generation. Thank you to Jordan Ford and the dedicated educators at Judson ISD for investing in our students and our community.

The room was filled with exciting conversations about where communities are headed and how places like Converse are creating new opportunities for businesses, residents, and future development.

From sports and entertainment to community design and local growth, one thing became clear: people are looking for places that bring energy, connection, and experience together—and Converse is building toward that future.

We’re grateful to our panelists, attendees, and community partners for being part of the conversation and helping shape what comes next.

There’s a lot to be excited about in Converse.

Great communities are built on small moments—and this week, we got to witness one firsthand 💛

Kat Lallo and Wendi Higby from Converse Economic Development Corporation met with Gomez and her team at our Walmart Neighborhood Market Converse - Toepperwein Rd. As the store goes through renovations after 10 years of serving City of Converse, there are a few changes in layout—but the commitment to people hasn’t changed one bit.

One customer was having trouble finding an item and was getting frustrated. Anel stepped in, reassured him, and went searching. Even when it wasn’t easy to find, she kept going—and ended up finding it at the bottom of a pallet in the back.

That extra effort turned someone’s day around.

It’s a reminder that what makes Converse special isn’t just the places we go—it’s the people who show up for each other every day. Thank you, Anel and team, for all you do for our community.

Join in supporting the Community Comfort Initiative, a donation drive supporting children entering foster care. Donations accepted through April 30th.

The City of Converse is proud to partner with Boysville, A Texas Home for Boys and Girls, for the Community Comfort Initiative, a donation drive supporting children entering foster care.

Many children enter foster care with very few personal belongings. This initiative helps provide new, comforting essentials such as backpacks, blankets, hygiene items, pajama sets, socks, stuffed animals, and underwear to help children feel safe, supported, and cared for during a difficult transition.

Donations are being accepted through April 30, 2026 at Converse City Hall, Converse Fire Department, and Converse Police Department. You can also donate online through the QR code on the flyer. Every donation, big or small, can make a meaningful difference in the life of a child.
