City of Corpus Christi - Public Works and Engineering Updates and information from the City of Corpus Christi's Public Works and Engineering Departments. This maintenance includes seal coats and overlays.

The City of Corpus Christi Engineering Department provides complete engineering and project management support for the City's Capital Improvement and Bond Program,as well as other City Departments and the public. Street Operations maintains approximately 1,234 miles of streets and alleys. Preventative maintenance includes the techniques used for preservation of the structural integrity of the pave

ment cross-section. The basic theory behind pavement preservation is to apply relatively inexpensive preventative maintenance to pavements at regular intervals to avoid much more expensive repairs later.

The City Council approved the purchase of two emergency backup generators and major flood mitigation improvements for the City’s Oso and Greenwood Wastewater Treatment facilities. The upgrades will ensure both treatment plants remain fully operational during extreme weather events, such as hurricanes, tropical storms, and severe freezes. In addition to backup power, the Greenwood facility will receive comprehensive flood mitigation improvements to protect critical structures from high-water events.
