The Nueces County Historical Commission preserves, protects and promotes history within the county and makes recommendations to County Commissioners Court for property acquisition, which is of historical significance, promotes, whenever possible, the programs of the Texas Historical Commission as well as conducts programs of historical marker recommendations and placements.

Join CCMSH and Moph598 for the official Grand Opening of the Purple Heart Exhibit at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History as we celebrate National Purple Heart Day and honor the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of our Coastal Bend Purple Heart recipients.

This permanent exhibit tells the stories of local heroes whose lives were forever changed in service to our nation. Through photographs, personal histories, and artifacts, the exhibit preserves their legacy and ensures future generations understand the true cost of freedom.

This is a historic moment for the Coastal Bend, and we invite veterans, military families, community members, educators, students, and supporters to be part of it.

Your Nueces County Historical Commission is one of 62 counties to be awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission.
Mike Carlisle, Chair of NCHC, gave remarks at the County Commissioner meeting on July 29.
The County Commissioners also recognized the work of NCHC.
Check out our America 250 and 1914 courthouse exhibits on the first floor.

The Karankawa Tribe of Texas unveiled a new state historical marker Saturday, replacing a 1976 marker they say misrepresented their history.

Aransas County was formed in 1871.Nueces County was formed in 1846.St. Joseph Island is currently in Aransas Island.
