Warm weather is here! As of June 11, 2026, cooling centers are available across Humboldt County. These locations provide a safe, air conditioned space during open hours.

Never, never, never leave children, disabled or elderly adults, or pets in parked, unattended vehicles! Studies have shown that the temperature inside a parked vehicle can rapidly rise to dangerous levels for people and pets. Leaving the windows slightly open does not significantly decrease the heating rate. The effects can be more severe on children because their bodies have not developed the ability to efficiently regulate internal temperature. weather.gov/safety/heat-children-pets

To combat the heat, wear light fitting clothing, stay inside during the hottest times of the day, and drink plenty of fluids!

Temperatures will warm to 15-20 degrees above normal across interior Northwest California Thursday through the weekend with highest exceeding 100 degrees for many valley locations. The heat will begin in the south in Mendocino and Lake counties where a Heat Advisory has been issued for Thursday and Friday when the HeatRisk will be in the Moderate to Major category. Heat will then spread north into Humboldt, Trinity, and Del Norte Friday into the weekend though overnight lows may be a bit cooler, lowering the HeatRisk overall. To combat the heat, wear light fitting clothing, stay inside during the hottest times of the day, and drink plenty of fluids. And remember, never leave kids or pets inside an unattended vehicle. Vehicles heat up quickly and can become deadly within minutes.

Following a brief pursuit in Hoopa early Friday morning, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop that led to the recovery of loaded fi****ms, ammunition, suspected narcotics, and drug paraphernalia

One individual was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on multiple charges.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to proactive patrol efforts and strengthening partnerships to enhance public safety in the Hoopa Valley.
