Besides being able to provide assistance with basic needs items for those who need them most in our community, one of our greatest joys is the relationships we are able to build with other community organizations. Having these strong relationships within our community unites us as we share a common goal: support individuals/families who are impacted by the daily stress, struggles and chaos of modern life by providing them with the resources they need to survive.

The Women of Steel 609L took up a collection of winter weather gear to ensure those individuals in Flint & Genesee County who need these items to stay warm and dry have access to them without having to worry about finances being a barrier. Thank you so much for providing these necessary items so we can pass them along to our clients! You are truly a blessing to so many!

Happy ! If you have driven by recently you might have seen some exciting things…like we have a floor! Roughly 100 yards or 10 trucks (+/-) of concrete were placed using a pump truck. Over the holidays the concrete will continue to cure with the help of insulation blankets. Curing is an important step and will allow adequate moisture, temperature, and time for the concrete to achieve it’s desired properties. Next steps: walls go up!

We are so close to our goal and are still actively fundraising! If it’s on your heart to give, check out building.crossoveroutreach.org and help us fill the gap!

Happy Friday! This week we’ve seen (and felt) a lot of soil preparation happening on the property! It’s important that the soil for our concrete slab is well compacted and well-drained to ensure the best results when cement is poured. These steps are vital in order to limit the risk of cracks in the finished concrete. We are excited to see the daily progress on our new building and the future of Crossover is looking really good. Thank you to everyone who has made this dream a reality!

We have lots of activity happening this week! Blocks getting delivered, and the masons are hard at work putting them in place! It has been cold and windy but we are sure appreciative of the work getting done! The future of Crossover is being built before our eyes!

We are still actively fundraising and if it’s on your heart to give, check out building.crossoveroutreach.org to become part of our legacy.

Happy !
How is it the final day of November? At the beginning of the month we began to distribute brand NEW winter coats for any child that needed one, as well as gently used coats for adults. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to bless 264 kids with NEW winter coats, hats, and gloves! 132 of those kids also received a new pair of boots. We’ve also been able to provide 132 coats to adults. That’s just for this month and we will continue providing those items as long as we need to! Thank you for helping us keep our neighbors in need warm and dry this season!

Two of our favorite programs each year are the Character Building Camp and our Back to School program. Each year we provide a full summer camp experience, at a Christian camp in northern Michigan, for at least 40 children. For a lot of our kids it's not only their first time away from home, but also their first time outside of Flint! Our Back to School program is designed to provide kids with everything they need to start the school year off with confidence. Each child receives two new outfits, new pairs of underwear and socks, a new pair of shoes, and a backpack full of school supplies! Please consider making a donation this season in support of these incredible programs so that we can continue to uplift the children of Flint & Genesee County!

Throughout the year we offer annual programs that uplift children and families. One of those is our winter coat program. This program is vital, especially right now as the cold temperatures are approaching. Every year we provide ANY child that needs one, a brand new winter coat. If available, we also provide them with winter boots, hats, gloves & scarves. We also have coats available for adults who are in need as well. Please consider making a donation this season so that we can continue to provide essential programs like this one!

It's our favorite time of the week again! Happy and Happy almost Thanksgiving! It's been a crazy few days here at Crossover as our clients are coming by to pick up their Thanksgiving bags. Each bag includes everything our families need in order to have a Thanksgiving feast; traditional Thanksgiving side dishes (stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce), dessert, and either a turkey, or a gift card to purchase one. We are so thankful for our sponsors who make this program possible! Thank you to our side dish sponsor Blue Cross Complete of Michigan and our turkey sponsor The Whiting Foundation. Thanks to our supporting churches: First Presbyterian Church of Flint, Riverside Tabernacle (Every Nation Church), St. Paul's Episcopal Church and Court Street United Methodist Church. We wouldn't be able to do what we do for this community, without the support of these organizations!

We're going to talk a bit about over the next several days as we lead up to next week, and ways you can get involved. We'll share how your gifts can impact our clients. Money is always helpful, but even liking and sharing our social media posts are a great way of getting the word out about who we are and what we do for the community! However you want to give this season, we urge you to give generously!

Footings have been poured!
That’s an important part of the foundation construction process. They are typically made of concrete with rebar reinforcement that has been poured into an excavated trench and their purpose is to support the foundation and prevent settling. We are so excited for the progress that’s been made!

Every year on November 13, the world celebrates World Kindness Day. It's a day to acknowledge the importance of being kind and loving towards others, no matter their circumstances. Being kind is as important as ever as there is so much sadness and uncertainty in the world today. So be kind today, and everyday! You never know what someone is going through, and something as simple as a smile could make someone's day!

Happy friends!
2022 continues to fly by and it’s hard to believe that in just over two weeks we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving. It’s been a wild couple of days at Crossover as we have been preparing Thanksgiving boxes for our families! We are thrilled that we have the opportunity to bless 100 families and 20 senior citizens or special needs adults with a Thanksgiving feast they can enjoy with family and friends! Thank you to our volunteers who helped make the last couple days go so smoothly, and another big thanks to our supporting churches, Blue Cross Complete of Michigan and the Whiting Foundation for partnering with us to provide all the side dishes, gift cards for turkeys and other goodies needed to fill the boxes!

'Tis the Season to be Merry!
Hard to believe we've already begun to prep for Christmas. Families are getting signed up, shopping has started, gifts are getting wrapped but there are still some items we are in need of. If you're out and about, we'd love your support in helping us get these items for our families. Here's a little list of what we're looking for! Thank you for helping us ensure that these families have a Christmas that's merry and bright.

LOOK! It’s the start of our new building.
What you see represents the future of Crossover. This new building will allow us to do so much more; improve and expand our emergency and enrichment programs in Flint & Genesee County, enhance our intake process, spend more time getting to know our clients and provide them with peer to peer mentorship, host more outreach events, collaborate with other agencies in the community and so much more. Needless to say, we’re excited.

is becoming one of our favorite days of the week! We love having the opportunity to share things with you that we're passionate about! Did you know that November is Homeless Awareness Month? In Flint & Genesee County there are 349 people who are homeless on any given night. Homelessness can happen to anyone.

How can you help? We can all make a difference when it comes to helping our homeless neighbors by volunteering and donating at local shelters and resource centers, but there is so much more that you can do. Say hello, be respectful to those experiencing homelessness in our community. If you see someone needing help, acknowledge them in the way you would want to be treated if you were in their shoes. We could go on and on about this topic, so check out our website, https://www.crossoveroutreach.org/in-the-news.html to read more on this!
