It's our favorite time of year and back to school is right around the corner!

Every year the Sandusky County SROs, along with several other organizations, stop out at Walmart to help promote the United Way's Stuff the Bus event. All of the items that are collected are distributed around the county to our local schools.

If you want to help make a difference in our community, or just want to see K9 Lola, please feel free to stop out!

This past weekend, the Lakota Football team took part in a camping trip that also served as a football camp. There they were surprised with a visit from our very own Deputy Byington!

Early in the morning Deputy Byington and two other former members of the military, put the team through a boot camp-style workout designed to challenge them both physically and mentally.

This workout wasn't just about how fast, strong, or tough the players could be. It was focused heavily on teamwork, communication, perseverance, and leadership, while giving each player an opportunity to discover more about their own personal strengths and how they can contribute to the team.

Many of us are aware that the biggest lessons aren't learned on the football field. They're learned when you're pushed outside of your comfort zone, rely on the people beside you, and realize you are capable of more than you thought.

We want to thank the Lakota Football team for letting us be a part of their camp and for being such great sports throughout the experience! We hope the lessons they learned this weekend stick with them both on and off the field.

Remember work together, push each other, and never give up!

The Sandusky County Sheriff's Office SROs would like to say thank you to the Eagle Bay District of Scouting America for inviting us out to help with your annual Cub Day Camp. We always have such a great time spending the day with their awesome Scouts.

We’ve been fortunate enough to join in fun of the three day camp for quite a few summers now, and it’s something we look forward to every year. It’s always great to see the Scouts learning new skills, making memories, and having fun!

We'd also like to thank Deputy Johannsen for helping out this year too!

Thank you again to the Scouts for having us, and we’re already looking forward to many more summers together!

Last Sunday, our own Deputy Jordan once again took on one of the toughest endurance events around by competing in the Ironman as part of Team Nexxt Level Fit! We're proud to share that they finished 5th overall in the relay division. It is an incredible accomplishment that reflects the dedication, discipline, and perseverance our deputies bring both on and off the job!

We also want to recognize another of our SROs, Deputy Byington and his wife, Laurel. Deputy Byington is the Lakota Schools SRO and together they had planned to compete this year as well. Unfortunately, Laurel has been courageously battling cancer and other health complications, making them unable to participate.

In true Ironman fashion, their teammates stepped up to race in Laurel's honor as Team Rocket Team Laurel. Their inspiring performance earned them 1st place in the relay division, a fitting tribute to Laurel's strength and determination!

We wish to congratulate everyone who competed this year! You are an inspiration to our community. We will continue to keep Laurel, Deputy Byington, and their family in our thoughts as she continues her fight and journey to recovery.

Deputy Jordan and K9 Lola were excited to spend time at this year's Lindsey Sunflower Festival!

Each year, the festival gives our deputies and K-9s a chance to showcase their training, answer questions, and help everyone learn more about how these incredible partners assist in keeping our communities safe.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello to Lola and the rest of our K-9 teams including Deputy Dorsey. We always enjoy spending time with our community!

Yesterday was a fantastic day at Cops & Bobbers!

The weather was on our side, making it the perfect opportunity for everyone to get outside, enjoy some fishing, and spend time together. We had an amazing time with all of the families, kids, and community members who joined us.

We'd also like to give a special shoutout to Judge Ickes, who kept everyone well-fed as our grill master for the day, and Captain Bender, who helped our kids with rod repairs and fishing. Thank you for helping make the event even more enjoyable!

We are so grateful for everyone who came out to spend the day with us. Another thanks goes out to the parents who sent us some of their own pictures they took so we could add them to this post! We hope you had as much fun as we did, and we can't wait to see everyone again next year!

Today we wrapped up the 2026 Sandusky County Junior Deputy Program! We'd like to thank all of the amazing kids who spent part of their summer learning, growing, and having fun with us!

On their final day, the kids had the opportunity to learn about the Sandusky County Multi-Jurisdictional Special Response Team (SRT). They got an up-close look at the specialized equipment and vehicles used by the team while learning about the important role they play in keeping our communities safe. A huge thank you to Sgt. Ely for taking the time to share their knowledge and give our participants such a memorable experience.

We are incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to host this year's Junior Deputy Program. Watching these young people learn about law enforcement, public safety, teamwork, and community service has been a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
We hope our amazing students had as much fun this summer as we did! Thank you to all of the guest speakers and partnering agencies, who helped make this program a success. We can't wait to do it again next year!
