City of Fremont Addresses Recent Water Taste and Odor Concerns
FREMONT, OHIO — Over the past several days, the City of Fremont has received concerns from some residents regarding a change in the taste and/or odor of their drinking water. The City takes these concerns seriously and is actively evaluating the situation.
Most importantly, there are currently no known safety concerns regarding the consumption of Fremont’s drinking water. The water remains safe to drink.
The City of Fremont conducts water-quality testing on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis in accordance with applicable Ohio EPA requirements. At this time, the City remains in compliance with required water-quality testing standards.
Regarding the reported odor and taste concerns, City staff are conducting additional testing and evaluation to determine the exact cause. Reports do not appear to be occurring throughout the entire city, and staff are working to identify the specific areas that may be experiencing water with a different taste or odor than normal.
Over the next several days, the City will continue its testing and investigation to determine the source of the issue. Once the cause is identified, the City will make any necessary operational adjustments to address and resolve the concern.
Again, residents should be assured that at this time, there is no indication of a safety concern related to drinking the City of Fremont’s water, and the City remains in compliance with mandatory water-quality testing requirements.
We appreciate the residents who have contacted the City to share their concerns. Reports from the public help our staff identify potential issues and respond as quickly and effectively as possible. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide additional information as appropriate.
