🚧⚠ LANE CLOSURE NOTICE ⚠ 🚧
FM 2252 Bridge Deck Pour Scheduled Wednesday, September 2 -Thursday, September 3

Motorists are advised that northbound and southbound FM 2252 between Marbach Road and Evans Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, until 5 a.m. Thursday, September 3, while the contractor performs a bridge deck pour.

Detour Information:

Northbound FM 2252 traffic will be directed to Evans Road to I-35.
Southbound FM 2252 traffic will be directed to FM 3009 to I-35.
Drivers should expect delays, follow all posted signs and detour routes, and use caution when traveling through the area.

Schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Fall is on it's way, which also means our 2027 Citizen Police Academy is coming, too!

Our classes start Tuesday January 12th and are every tuesday from 6-9pm, with a break for Spring Break (March 9, 2027).

This course is designed to enable our residents to better understand police work and offer insight into what happens behind the scenes at your Garden Ridge PD.

Sworn officers and local civilians will teach you about:

- Spotting Suspicious People and Situations
- Traffic Law including Simulated Traffic Stops
- Search, Seizure and Arrest Procedures
- Shooting at the Fi****ms Range (Optional)
- Introduction to Tactical Medicine
- REAL Crime Scene Investigation (Not TV Drama)

WAY TO GO GARDEN RIDGE PARENTS! 😁👍

GRES traffic this morning was great and that's a terrific way to start the school year. ⭐️

Let's keep up that momentum for this afternoon's pick-up by parking in approved areas, being mindful of our littles who cross Municipal Parkway this week to the parked cars, and DO NOT drive the wrong way on Municipal Parkway to get to pickup lines or parking spots.

Everyone working together is how we keep all the kids & their adults safe - that's the goal.

Remember to stay off your phones, pay attention to traffic flow and speeds, don't "block the box" for our emergency vehicles at City Hall, and make sure all your occupants of the vehicle are in their seats and buckled in.

**SCHOOL REMINDER**

School starts tomorrow for Garden Ridge Elementary. I want to remind everyone of a few things to keep the area safe and running smoothly. Last year the school adopted a new traffic flow program which relieved traffic backup on Municipal Parkway and kept cars off FM3009, which was fantastic by the way, but I want to remind everyone of a couple of other major concerns for school traffic.
I am going to have officers monitor Municipal Parkway regularly this year as we are having an increase in drivers who still think they can hold their cell phones while driving. This is compounded by drivers coming out of the parking lot and trying to catch the traffic signal at the bottom of the hill at speeds much higher than 20 mph.
The city and Police Department are patient with allowing new parents and drivers to acclimate to the routine for dropping children off at school, however having a cell phone in your hand while driving and speeding through the school zone are never acceptable and do not require an adjustment period.

In short, STAY OFF YOUR CELL PHONE AND SLOW DOWN, so we have a safe year for our children.

GRPD'S "gift" to you on this wonderful Wednesday - CONSTRUCTION CLOSURES. We know, we shouldn't have, right? :)

WHAT TO EXPECT
As part of the I-35 Northeast Expansion Program, TxDOT will close the eastbound Loop 1604 mainlanes at Lookout Road for bridge beam work.
This closure is scheduled for Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 14 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.

DETOUR INFORMATION
All lanes of the eastbound Loop 1604 mainlanes at Lookout Road will be closed. Traffic will be detoured along the eastbound Loop 1604 frontage road to the Pat Booker Road for access to the eastbound Loop 1604 mainlanes.

Officer Carney stopped a vehicle recently for traveling 65mph in a 50mph zone and issued citations for No Driver’s License and Speeding to the driver. Sergeant Osborn through investigation concluded that this same driver was stopped in April 2026 and cited for No Driver’s License and Speeding, though at that time provided our officer with a slightly different name and date of birth. Sergeant Osborn requested an Arrest Warrant for Joseph Irvin for Failure to ID Fugitive Intent Give False Information. The warrant was served at his residence in Garden Ridge.
