Sometimes a person's story hits a little harder because we realize it could just as easily be our parent's, our grandparent's, or the neighbor we've known for years. It reminds us how close these struggles can be to home.
Recently, a sweet couple from our community reached out to us for help. She is in her late 70s, and her husband is in his early 80s. After a lifetime of hard work, they found themselves facing a painful reality: their monthly bills had simply outpaced their Social Security, forcing her husband to go back to work.
No one should have to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table, especially in their golden years. Thanks to your support, we were able to step in and provide them with fresh produce, non-perishable items and frozen produce from our food pantry and ensure they have safe, reliable medical transportation.
Moments like this remind us why we are here. We are deeply thankful that our neighbors trust us with their stories, their struggles, and their needs. Allowing us to walk alongside them during tough times is a privilege we never take for granted.
Thank you, Greater Gardner community, for helping us keep this safety net strong for everyone who needs it.
