***Community Assist Request - Burglary of Building***

On Tuesday, September 2, 2026, Hood County Sheriff's Office responded to report of a burglary of a building that occurred at David's grocery store, located in the 5200 block of Acton Hwy, after an employee arrived to work to find damage to front doors from being forced open. This burglary occurred between Monday, September 1 at 11:00 PM and Tuesday, September 2 at 5:30 AM.

Hood County Sheriff's Office is requesting assistance from community in the immediate area of this location to check your surveillance footage that could provide additional leads in this investigation. We have already spoken with some residents nearby but is likely other residents or business could have video we are not aware of.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Multiple Wastewater Spills Reported from Canyon Creek Wastewater Plant; Agencies Coordinating Response

Hood County, Texas – September 2, 2026 – Hood County Environmental Health is notifying the public of wastewater spills from the Canyon Creen Wastewater Plant, operated by AQUA Texas. Spills occurred on August 26, August 31, and September 2, 2026.

The uncontrolled release of untreated material originated from the Canyon Creek Wastewater Plant and entered an inlet of Lake Granbury. Cleanup efforts are currently underway and water quality testing will be conducted after cleanup is complete.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), the regulatory authority over the facility, the Brazos River Authority (BRA), and Hood County Environmental Health have all been notified and are working to mitigate the impacts. The agencies continue to coordinate on response and oversight.

PUBLIC HEALTH PRECAUTIONS:

All recreational use, including swimming, wading, fishing, and boating should be avoided on the lake near the Canyon Creek area until further notice. Pets and livestock should also be kept out of the water.

Warning signs will be posted at public access points as needed. These precautions will remain in effect until water quality testing confirms that conditions meet applicable standards.

Updates on cleanup progress, water testing results, and when any advisory may be lifted will be provided as information becomes available.

**Aggravated Robbery / Aggravated Assault**

Today, August 29,2026, at about 10:05 AM, Hood County Sheriff’s Office responded to report of a Robbery that occurred in about the 3600 block of Contrary Creek Rd, Granbury, Hood County, Texas.

Arriving on scene at about 10:10 AM, deputies found the 15 year old male juvenile suspect had been detained by patrons of the store and at least one employee was injured during the robbery.

During the investigation is was determined the suspect, acting alone, entered the business and eventually demanded money from one clerk while displaying a weapon. Another clerk attempted to intervene and was injured by the suspect. The injured clerk was treated by deputies, Texas EMS, Indian Harbor VFD and eventually transported to Fort Worth area hospital for further treatment.

Suspect is in custody and there is no immediate danger to the community.

Many of you across the county woke up this morning to heavy smoke blanketing our area. This smoke is coming from the Ross Fire, a large wildfire currently burning in Palo Pinto and Jack Counties. Overnight and early this morning the winds shifted, carrying the smoke south into Hood County.

While the smoke can look and feel concerning, it is primarily from the Ross Fire and not from new fires within our county at this time.

Please continue to stay alert and report any fire activity immediately. Things to watch for include:
✅Visible flames
✅Thick black smoke
✅A concentrated rising column of smoke

If you see something that doesn’t look right, call it in right away - this gives our firefighters the best chance to get ahead of a new start before it grows.

***Update to Mambrino Hwy construction***

ANOTHER UPDATE: TxDOT has notified the City that this work has been postponed.

FIRST UPDATE: Thanks to the concerns shared by nearby residents, the City of Granbury, and Granbury ISD, TxDOT has revised the schedule for its FM 3210 (Mambrino Highway) resurfacing project to help reduce impacts on the community and school traffic.

The work will now take place OVERNIGHT, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., beginning Wednesday, Aug. 12. The project is expected to be completed the following week, weather and material availability permitting.

One lane of traffic will remain open during the work, with flaggers and a pilot car guiding vehicles safely through the work zone.

We appreciate the residents who took the time to voice their concerns, Granbury ISD and City staff for communicating those concerns to TxDOT, and TxDOT for being responsive and adjusting the work schedule to better serve the community.
