A Big Thank You to CBK Towing and Recovery!
Groton Fire would like to extend our sincere thanks to CBK for donating two vehicles for training. Our crews were able to put them to great use.
Members demonstrated the importance of wearing a seatbelt for participants in our 2026 Youth Public Safety Academy and conducted a full vehicle extrication demonstration, giving attendees an up-close look at the skills and equipment used during real-world rescue operations.
The donated vehicles also provided an opportunity for department members to train with a new set of rescue struts recently acquired by the department. These specialized stabilization tools help prevent vehicle movement during extrication incidents, creating a safer environment for both rescuers and patients.
To round out the trainings, crews completed a mock entrapment scenario with our EMT Intern taking the lead on the call. She did an outstanding job managing the incident and providing patient care throughout the exercise.
Thank you again to CBK for supporting this important hands-on training. Opportunities like these help us better prepare our members while inspiring and educating the next generation of public safety professionals.
