🎓 Celebrating Our GFD Family Graduates! 🎓

Today, we are proud to recognize two members of the GFD family who are graduating and stepping into their next chapters.

Cullen Everett Cheeks, son of Chief Cheeks, has been serving as our Intern since January. He excelled in learning the job, showed tremendous dedication, and is eager to follow in his father’s footsteps as a Firefighter/EMT.

Aiden Thomas Saball, son of FF/EMT Saball, will be heading to Keene State College to pursue Environmental Science, continuing his commitment to learning and service in a new field.

Both of these outstanding young men were awarded the Groton Firefighters Association 2026 Scholarship. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, character, and the bright futures ahead of them.

Please join us in wishing Cullen and Aiden all the best in their future endeavors. The entire GFD family is cheering you on!

What a night for the Groton Fire Department. We officially welcomed two new full time Firefighter/EMTs, Kyle Girard and Andrew “AJ” Saball. Here’s to a long and rewarding career for both of them.
We also honored five members who assisted with a childbirth on May 2, 2026. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. We’re thrilled to share that both Mom and her baby boy are healthy and doing great. Huge shoutout to Lt. Tyler Shute, FF/EMT Chris Braun, Lt. Chase Lundgren, FF/EMT Bryan Gardner, and EMT Gibson McCullagh for their exceptional work.

This has been a busy week for the Groton Fire Department. Once again we were stretched thin. The support of our mutual aid partners from Ayer Fire Department, Littleton Fire Department, Pepperell Fire Department, Dunstable Fire Rescue, Devens Fire Department, Lunenburg Fire Department, Shirley MA Fire Department, Harvard Fire-EMS, and MA State Dist. 6 DCR was critical in this weeks brush fire that extended to a seasonal residential cabin. We need to also show appreciation for the assistance received from Patriot Regional Emergency Communications, Groton MA Police Department, and Groton DPW.
