Hazard Perry County Chamber of Commerce Welcome to Hazard, KY! Dear Friends,

Welcome to the Hazard/Perry County Chamber of Commerce and to the friendly community of Hazard, Kentucky.

Our primary mission is to promote new business and commercial growth as well as the retention and expansion of existing businesses. While these standards remain today, the Chamber office staff also works with the government of the City of Hazard and Perry County to promote the common interest of the community in order to enhance the quality of life of the residents. Hazard serves as the center for education, communication and healthcare for the area and surrounding counties. Our community is a great place to live, raise a family, worship, educate our children and to do business. Hazard offers practically any provider of service that you need. As in most of Eastern Kentucky, the main industry is coal mining, but the city is also focusing now on attracting new industries. Our public school systems provide an excellent education. Hazard Community and Technical College has its main campus in Hazard. Bachelors and Master degree programs are offered through the University Center of the Mountains, located on the Community College campus. The Appalachian Regional Healthcare Medical Center is located in Hazard. The excellent medical staff and health care service providers are equal or above any you would find in larger cities. It is my pleasure to serve as President of the Hazard-Perry County Chamber of Commerce. Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 8:30am in the City Hall Chambers. 🎃 DOWNTOWN SCARECROW STROLL 2026 🎃

Stroll downtown for scarecrows, decorated storefronts, and fall fun on Main Street! This FREE community event is open to businesses, schools, organizations, and clubs.

Create a family-friendly scarecrow to display in Downtown Hazard throughout October.

Decorate your downtown storefront with a festive fall display!

🍁 SCARECROW CONTEST DETAILS

• Participation is free.
• Scarecrows must be family-friendly and no taller than 7 feet.
• Participants are responsible for creating, decorating, installing, maintaining, and removing their scarecrows.
• Each entry should include a weather-resistant sign identifying its creator.
• Scarecrows must be securely constructed to withstand outdoor weather.
• Each participant will receive a pole assignment after registration closes. Depending on the number of entries, two scarecrows may share a pole—one on the front and one on the back.
• Scarecrows must be installed September 26–30 and removed no later than November 7.

📧 POLE ASSIGNMENTS

Participants will receive an email during the week of September 21 with their pole number, location, and installation information.

Main Street businesses with a pole in front of or near their storefront will receive priority for that pole.

👍 PUBLIC VOTING

Each completed entry will be photographed and posted individually on the City of Hazard page.

Vote by “liking” the photo of your favorite scarecrow! The entry receiving the most likes by the deadline will earn bragging rights as our 2026 winner.

🔨 Installation period: September 26–30
🍂 Displays and Facebook voting: October 1–31
🏆 Winner announced: November 6
🚚 Removal deadline: November 7

📍 Displays will be located on Main Street- Downtown Hazard.
