The International Peace Light is an eternal flame originating at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Similar to the Olympic flame, it is spread around the world with a message of peace and friendship. Each year, a child fetches the flame into blast-proof lamps which are flown from Tel Aviv to Vienna, Austria then on to New York City. Citizens as well as delegations from many churches, Scout groups, and other youth organizations receive the Peace Light at a service at John F. Kennedy Airport, then spread the flame and its message of peace and friendship person to person across the North American continent.
All are welcome to receive the Peace Light; this event is open to families, friends, clergy, and Scout units.
