Sand Art with Junrui Garza

What is most commonly known today as sand art, originated in the city of Petra in Jordan, during the early 20th century. The craft was inspired by the multi-colored sand and rocks found in the Petra Mountains and that during the last half of the 1940s, artistic designs inspired by camels grew in popularity. Sand Art spans many cultures and takes on various forms through sand painting, sand drawing, sand mandalas, and even sand animation.
Join for a live (online) demonstration, as artist Junrui Garcia, PhD, shows us different ways of manipulating sand as media to create artwork. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions following the presentation.

Gung Hay Fat Choy! I am taking Mandarin lessons from HCPL's Transparent Language through digital learning that offers every language under the sun! And it's free, y'all! #HighMeadowsLibrary #ForeignLanguageCourses
I enjoyed the genealogy class yesterday. It gave me so much pleasure to see my grandmother's name, along with the names of her parents and siblings, on a census taken in 1920 when she was only 15 yrs old. My grandmother died in 1997 at the age of 91. I will continue to seek out more records of my grandmother's mother. I'm looking forward to next month's genealogy class, and to the "Crack the Case" class, AND to the "History of Jazz" event, all coming up in February 2020. It will be a fun month. Thanks for all of these new programs. Just what I was looking for. See you soon!
