Today, the Juneau Police Department stood with our community and fellow first responders in honoring those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We remember the courage of the first responders who rushed toward danger, the selfless actions of everyday citizens who helped one another, and the service members who answered the nation's call in the years that followed. May their sacrifices never be forgotten, and may we continue to uphold the unity and strength that emerged in the midst of tragedy.

Juneau Parks & Recreation’s Start Smart Sports program opens for registration at noon on Monday, September 14 ⚾ If you have a 3 to 5-year-old in your life, consider enrolling them in this program! With your help, they’ll learn basic sports skills like kicking, throwing, and agility.

From now through the end of October, the CBJ Water Utility team is flushing out sediment and mineral buildup in our water distribution system 🚰 This helps keep the water clean and crisp for all of Juneau.

During this time, you may notice minor service disruptions or slight water discoloration. To clear discoloration, wait until the work crew leaves the area and then run the cold water tap until it runs clear.

Work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you have any questions, call CBJ Utilities Administration at (907) 586-0393.

We wish everyone a happy Labor Day weekend – all City and Borough of Juneau offices and most facilities will be closed on Monday, September 7.

Facilities that will be open on Labor Day include the Shéiyi X̱aat Hít Youth Center, which is open 24/7, and the Dimond Park Aquatic Center, which is open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
