May 2026 hydro generation, savings in gallons of fuel along with fuel cost savings:
Gartina Falls hydro in Hoonah generated a total of 214,747 kWh, resulting in fuel savings of 14,934 gallons. Total savings in fuel costs $74,221.
Total generation since Aug. 2015 = 13,961,020 kWh. Gallons of fuel saved since startup = 952,058. Cost of fuel saved since startup = $2,931,817.

Gunnuk Creek hydro in Kake generated a total of 105,768 kWh, resulting in fuel savings of 10,938 gallons. Total savings in fuel costs $20,978.
Total generation since Oct. 2020 = 4,382,167 kWh. Gallons of fuel saved since startup = 302,146. Cost of fuel saved since startup = $1,020,361.

10 Mile hydro in the Chilkat Valley generated 98,640 kWh. We do not diesel generate in the CV so there are no fuel savings for comparison. Total generation YTD for the Chilkat Valley in 2026 = 262,200 kWh.

Total hydro generation from all sources in 2026 = 1,117,993 kWh.

Attention Angoon Customers: There was an outage due to a rebuild on an engine that overheated and shutdown before another engine started.

Attention Hoonah Customers: There will be a planned outage on Thursday, May 21, 2026 for See Street from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The purpose of the outage is for line repair.

There will be a planned outage for Friday, May 22, 2026 for Airport Road for the trailer park and a pole nearby. The purpose of the outage is for a transformer upgrade. Please plan accordingly, thank you!

Gartina Falls hydro in Hoonah generated a total of 28,074 kWh, resulting in fuel savings of 1,896 gallons. Total savings in fuel costs $9,762.
Total generation since Aug. 2015 = 13,746,723 kWh. Gallons of fuel saved since startup = 937,124. Cost of fuel saved since startup = $2,847,834.
Gunnuk Creek hydro in Kake generated a total of 70,856 kWh, resulting in fuel savings of 3,797 gallons. Total savings in fuel costs $4,936.
Total generation since Oct. 2020 = 4,276,399 kWh. Gallons of fuel saved since startup = 287,365. Cost of fuel saved since startup = $994,446.
10 Mile hydro in the Chilkat Valley generated 37,800 kWh. We do not diesel generate in the CV so there are no fuel savings for comparison. Total generation YTD for the Chilkat Valley in 2026 = 163,560 kWh.
Total hydro generation from all sources in 2026 = 698,838 kWh.

Thank you to everyone in Kake that attended our annual meeting on May 8th. We had officially 47 registered but I'm sure we had more than that in attendance after registration stopped.

Michael Rovito from the Alaska Power Association was the Emcee for this year's meeting and did a wonderful job. We also thank Rob Carr from Cooperative Finance Corporation for attending. CFC provides long term financing for projects.

Thank you to Frankie Perry from the Chilkat Valley, Lisa Andersson from Hoonah and Chenara Kookesh from Angoon for helping with our election this year. We received 96 mail in ballots, six where invalid since they were received after the deadline leaving 90 valid mail in ballots. We had 36 people vote in person. The 2025 annual meeting minutes were approved by 117 votes. Jim Strong received 118 votes for the Klukwan District and was re-elected for a three year term.

A total of 39 door prizes were given away during the meeting. Melanie Kadake won the $250 Costco gift card from IPEC. Charlotte Davis won the battery from NC Machinery worth $250. Susan Ahwinonq won the $300 cash prize from Chatham Electric. Edna Jackson won the CAT cooler from NC Power Systems $359 value. Jacob Shaquanie won the Grand Prize roundtrip airfare from Alaska Seaplanes. Congratulations to everyone that won!

A big Thank You to T & H Central Council, T & H Housing Authority, Sealaska, Temsco Helicopters, Petro Marine, HDR Alaska, Alaska Power Association, Northwest Public Power Association, Dianne Blumer, Kemppel Huffman & Ellis, Moody Mickelsen Rowley & Adamson, Cooperative Finance Cooperation, NC Machinery, NC Power Systems, Chatham Electric, and Alaska Seaplanes for contributing door prizes to our annual meeting.
