Don't forget to stop by our Safe Place Launch Party this afternoon from 2-4pm. We will have snacks, games, prizes, and the opportunity to learn more about this awesome new resource in our community!

Zach Gordon and Sheiyi Xaat Hit are launching a new resource for youth in Juneau, and everyone is invited to celebrate with us! Join us for the official Safe Place launch party on June 12th at the ZGYC from 2-4 pm for food, games, and the chance to learn more about Safe Place and see which organizations will be participating in the program. We will also be giving away fun prizes, merch, and gift cards donated from local businesses (like McDonald's!) to youth who attend.

Safe Place is a national outreach and prevention program that designates businesses and organizations as “Safe Places” where youth in crisis can go to seek help. Youth under 18 who are lost, on the run, or feeling unsafe for any reason can enter a Safe Place site and receive immediate access to counseling, transportation, shelter services, or other community resources within 30 minutes. We are super excited to get this important program started in our community and we hope to see you there!

To celebrate the launch of the Safe Place program, we will be highlighting one Safe Place site on our socials every week.

This week we're highlighting JPD! The JPD headquarters located at 6255 Alaway Ave. in Lemon Creek is now available as a Safe Place site to youth in crisis.

"The Juneau Police Department appreciates opportunities to help youth in our community, and we are excited to partner with Shéiyi X̲aat Hít Youth Shelter on this program that give teens who may be in crisis as many healthy and safe outlets as possible." (Commander Jeremy Weske)

We appreciate JPD and our other partners for their commitment to the safety of youth in Juneau!

Happy Impact Wednesday! This week, we are asking for new or lightly used sweatpants and sweatshirts in all sizes! If you have any you would like to donate, please drop them off to us at the ZGYC. Logos are fine as long as they are kid-friendly.

Thanks!

We're Hiring! Join Our Team and Make a Difference in the Lives of Youth!

Do you enjoy working with teens and believe in meeting young people where they are, supporting them through challenges, and never giving up on them? If so, we would love to hear from you!

As a Youth Advocate, you will play a critical role in supporting youth who come into our shelter. You will work alongside young people to develop individualized plans of care, connect them to needed services, and coordinate support with partner organizations serving youth in our community. You will provide referrals, advocate for youth needs, and help them navigate systems that can often feel overwhelming.

You'll work both one-on-one and in group settings, collaborating with a dedicated team to create a positive, inclusive, and empowering space for all youth.

If you're compassionate, patient, adaptable, and passionate about helping young people thrive, we'd love to connect with you!

Apply today or reach out to learn more about this rewarding opportunity.

Apply by the end of the business day on 6/22/26.

Hi everyone!! We are so happy that celebration is in full swing. We just wanted to remind you all that the parking right next to the ZGYC is reserved for ZGYC staff. We have many staff members who have to drive to work and have been unable to find a spot to park today. If you are parked here now we ask that you move your car as soon as you can. Gunalchéesh! 🙂

We closed the center from 2:00–3:00 PM on Tuesday to take some of our youth to the Canoe Landing downtown. We're fortunate to be so close to celebration activities.

We'll have the livestream running all week, and it's always a joy to see familiar faces participating with their dance groups! 😊
