Thanks to all who came out and contributed to the "Operation Heart Attack." I see Mayor Mary M. Dennis, LOCAP member Mark Cymbalist, Councilman Ed and his wife Peggy Cimics, police officer's spouses and a whole bunch of happy faces.

"Looking Towards the Future" Welcome to the City of Live Oak, Texas – “Northeast Gateway to San Antonio!” Incorporated in 1960, City founders considered the Interstate 35 and Loop 1604 interchange a perfect location amid gently-rolling hills. Live Oak evolved from a rich farming and ranching tradition to developments of peaceful residential neighborhoods, multiple shopping centers, a major hospital and medical complexes, college campuses, and financial resources. Nearly, half of the residents have lived in Live Oak for more than 10 years. New families with young children continue to locate to our community increasing the population to over 14,900. Within its 5.5 square miles of city limits, Live Oak is able to offer a variety of options for motels, apartments, and single family residences. Take time to visit our family owned restaurants and businesses, who know Live Oak as a business friendly community. One of the largest open-air shopping centers in Texas at the interchange of I-35 and Loop 1604, the Forum at Olympia Parkway, features many popular chain stores and a diverse array of restaurants. The new Gateway Plaza Shopping Center includes a community of luxury apartments in addition to several popular retail shops. The Village at Forum Parkway has restaurant and retail choices to complement the other shopping centers, and Live Oak Crossing is anchored by an 18 screen movie theater with even more retail shopping and restaurants. The medical industry grows in Live Oak through the recently expanded Northeast Methodist Hospital facility. Medical professional offices and clinics continue to locate in the vicinity of the hospital. The college system known as Alamo Colleges District has expanded higher educational opportunities for local residents through completion of the Northeast Lakeview campus, which encompasses approximately 238 acres of property. By constructing Judson Early College on the Northeast Lakeview campus, select high school students can graduate with a diploma and an Associates Degree in four years. In the fall of 2010, five (5) universities will offer classes for more than 20 degree programs at the Alamo University Center. Citizens living and working in the metrocom area will have a more convenient way to complete a bachelor’s or master’s degree programs closer to home. As the only major financial institution in Live Oak, Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union located both the corporate headquarters and the community branch in Live Oak. Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union offers many services and has expanded into several locations in Texas cities. With just under 100 acres of parks and open space, Live Oak offers several recreational opportunities for any age family member. The largest, City Park contains a 20-acre lake that is the focus of an annual fishing event for children. Walking trails, a disc golf course, playscapes, and pavilions for rent, sports fields, a swimming pool and clubhouse are just a few amenities offered. The City pool is available for private parties and offers season passes. The clubhouse is available for small parties, reunions, and meetings. Woodcrest Park opened in early June 2009 with a large playscape, restroom facilities, and concrete trails in a natural woods setting. Live Oak’s attraction is the ability to offer full city services, educational, financial, medical, and retail opportunities within the atmosphere of a small cohesive community. With convenient access to major thoroughfares to navigate the metropolitan area of San Antonio, as well as, easy access to Randolph Air Force Base, Fort Sam Houston, New Braunfels, San Marcos, and Austin, Live Oak’s location is perfect!
