Early this morning, the county Judge ruled that parks will be closed in Bexar, with the exception of walking trails from Friday through Sunday. Live Oak follows the action of the County Judge Nelson Wolff. Live Oak is taking action to close the pavilions, close the playscapes and remove the basketball goals. We will not be able to take down all disc golf baskets so we are asking people to be very cautious when playing disc golf. Our lake, walking and jogging trails, disc golf and open space for exercising will be open. Please don't plan on bringing a BBQ pit and canopies in to have a picnic because our police officers will be out asking you to disperse. This is a terrible decision to have to make, but please understand that we are all just trying to do the right thing. Help us by masking up, maintaining social distance and curb the spread this 4th of July weekend.

“If you want to see August 1st, then maybe you should stay indoors and isolate on July 4th.”

CNN goes inside San Antonio Methodist Hospital, where health care workers say they are treating critically ill coronavirus patients of all ages, including mothers who can’t meet their newborns to prevent transmission. The waiting list for beds is growing, younger people are in need for drastically intrusive treatments and health care workers are stressed and tired. https://cnn.it/2VEFite

It is out of an abundance of concern for our residents and visitor's health that we are cancelling this event. This is such a fun event that is enjoyed by so many people that it makes this decision very hard. Please stay tuned and hopefully we will all be back together at a future time when the circumstances that are facing us now, ease up to some degree. We are sincerely sorry that this event cannot go on as scheduled.

The City of Live Oak partnered with Barcom Technologies and Global Asset to process approximately 2000 lbs of old electronics. This retired IT asset recovery and recycle program has proven to minimize the use of our city internal resources by eliminating the liability to complete Certificates of Indemnification, as well as having the assurance that all assets are tracked and audited with complete data destruction procedures and detailed reporting. With this, the City of Live Oak continues with a zero landfill initiative for end of life electronics utilized by city staff. General information

"Looking Towards the Future" Welcome to the City of Live Oak, Texas – “Northeast Gateway to San Antonio!” Incorporated in 1960, City founders considered the Interstate 35 and Loop 1604 interchange a perfect location amid gently-rolling hills. Live Oak evolved from a rich farming and ranching tradition to developments of peaceful residential neighborhoods, multiple shopping centers, a major hospital and medical complexes, college campuses, and financial resources. Nearly, half of the residents have lived in Live Oak for more than 10 years. New families with young children continue to locate to our community increasing the population to over 14,900. Within its 5.5 square miles of city limits, Live Oak is able to offer a variety of options for motels, apartments, and single family residences. Take time to visit our family owned restaurants and businesses, who know Live Oak as a business friendly community. One of the largest open-air shopping centers in Texas at the interchange of I-35 and Loop 1604, the Forum at Olympia Parkway, features many popular chain stores and a diverse array of restaurants. The new Gateway Plaza Shopping Center includes a community of luxury apartments in addition to several popular retail shops. The Village at Forum Parkway has restaurant and retail choices to complement the other shopping centers, and Live Oak Crossing is anchored by an 18 screen movie theater with even more retail shopping and restaurants. The medical industry grows in Live Oak through the recently expanded Northeast Methodist Hospital facility. Medical professional offices and clinics continue to locate in the vicinity of the hospital. The college system known as Alamo Colleges District has expanded higher educational opportunities for local residents through completion of the Northeast Lakeview campus, which encompasses approximately 238 acres of property. By constructing Judson Early College on the Northeast Lakeview campus, select high school students can graduate with a diploma and an Associates Degree in four years. In the fall of 2010, five (5) universities will offer classes for more than 20 degree programs at the Alamo University Center. Citizens living and working in the metrocom area will have a more convenient way to complete a bachelor’s or master’s degree programs closer to home. As the only major financial institution in Live Oak, Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union located both the corporate headquarters and the community branch in Live Oak. Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union offers many services and has expanded into several locations in Texas cities. With just under 100 acres of parks and open space, Live Oak offers several recreational opportunities for any age family member. The largest, City Park contains a 20-acre lake that is the focus of an annual fishing event for children. Walking trails, a disc golf course, playscapes, and pavilions for rent, sports fields, a swimming pool and clubhouse are just a few amenities offered. The City pool is available for private parties and offers season passes. The clubhouse is available for small parties, reunions, and meetings. Woodcrest Park opened in early June 2009 with a large playscape, restroom facilities, and concrete trails in a natural woods setting. Live Oak’s attraction is the ability to offer full city services, educational, financial, medical, and retail opportunities within the atmosphere of a small cohesive community. With convenient access to major thoroughfares to navigate the metropolitan area of San Antonio, as well as, easy access to Randolph Air Force Base, Fort Sam Houston, New Braunfels, San Marcos, and Austin, Live Oak’s location is perfect!

FOUND PHONE!!!! My husband was playing disc golf today and found this iPhone in a field. It was dead and since it says “No Service”, I assume the person has replaced it, but we would still like to return to the rightful owner. (If it is yours, please describe what the back of your phone case looks like.) Thanks!
Saw colorful, bright decorations. So nice and appropriate. Thank you to all our 'First Responders", City Leaders, and all of the staff. THANK YOU!!!!
I’ve been trying to find info, is the playground equipment open at parks??
So I’m lookin through the Hometown News that we just received and I’m wondering How in the World are you Celebrating 60yrs AND social distancing during this pandemic? 🤔🤔🤔 watching the parade, yes Of course but watching the bands?! I’ve been down there to see The Spazmatics and there is No Way to Social Distance during their performance. The amount of people that go see them you would have to have it in the field next to the police station to have people standing 6ft apart. Live Oak has been doing pretty darn good with keeping people safe during this pandemic this event would totally put all of tha good work to waste 😢😢 I’m very proud to be a resident of this fine city for 51yrs! My parents for 55yrs!!!
Had a fox in my front yard Saturday night.
I love it here. We can see why it is a good time to support the Live Oak Animal Shelter.
The state has changed how it reports the number of active CoViD-19 cases, which made many county totals jump higher overnight. "Previously, the Department of State Health Services only included patients who tested positive and showed symptoms as active; now, all cases - symptomatic, recovered, presumed positive and under investigation are included in the tally." Please see more at
Beware folks. While I was walking in the park today I came across a 3 1/2 to 4 foot rattlesnake sunning on the sidewalk. It was on the path coming down from the college to the little bridge close to the football field. The snakes are out. Be careful about letting your little ones go ahead of you on the trails.
These little duckings hatched in our front yard this weekend and made their way down to their new home at the lake this morning!!!
One of the boards at the pier at the park is loose and a nail is sticking out. Dont want anyone to get hurt.
Do you know when there will be another expired drug take back day?
Thank you Live oak for a wonderful time today! Loved seeing so many happy kiddos pulling their fish out! ❤️❤️❤️
