Welcome to week 13! Detachment 860 is on the move this week arriving at the Tactical Training Facility for paintball. The 100’s and 200’s are facing off to see who can plan and execute more effectively in this team-on-team battle. Teams were tasked with securing then destroying different locations around the field and pushing towards the enemy base. To aid in this endeavor teams could call in the POC to launch mortar strikes or send in a special forces team. Battling through their enemies and the weather teams fought hard but, in the end the 100’s managed to secure the 200’s leadership with the aid of the POC securing them victory and control of the TTF!

Congratulations to Cadet Hayward for winning this week's Top Stick Award!

Week 12! One of two big weeks to begin the end of this semester. We are in Military Skills Evaluation II! This event is pack with challenges to make cadets think and act under pressure. A traditional MSE has 3 parts: the open Rank Inspection, Military Knowledge Test and the Flight Drill Evaluation. This MSE switches it up. First cadets had to report into the check-in table to be assigned their flights. As soon as everyone was in their flight it was on! While the ORI didn’t change the MKT did. Cadets had to run two laps around the fieldhouse to get them breathing then the test started when they got back. The mix of adrenalin and thinking challenged cadets to steady themselves while they filled in the test. The other change was the FDE. This was replaced with a march around campus where flights had to successfully navigate the campus while preforming perfect marching movements. We are incredibly proud of our cadets for the effort they put in this week!

Congratulations to Cadet Murphy for winning Top Stick for week 12!

Week 11! This week we put our cadets to the test. The Physical Fitness Assessment is a pillar of performance for ROTC and the Air Force testing each cadet’s aerobic capacity and physical endurance through a series of workouts: one minute of pushups, minute of sit-ups and the 1.5-mile run. Together these workouts create a Lead Lab that many cadets dread. But our detachment pulled through scoring an average of 91.87 points out of 100!

Congratulations to Cadet Whipple for winning this week’s Top Stick Award!

Welcome to week 9! SWAT is their name and room clearing is their game! This week we had a really incredible time with the Logan SWAT team. They taught our cadets the principles of room clearing, how to stack up, and how to sweep! Our cadets looked great breaching rooms and securing targets in this very rare experience. While half the detachment was clearing rooms the other half was securing the base with our simulated Entry Control point. Cadets had to clear cars and people for entry to our simulated base.

A very special thank you to our Logan SWAT for lending us their training facility for the day and teaching us about clearing rooms!

Congratulations to Cadet Harris for winning this week’s Top Stick Award!

Other congratulations are in order for Cadet Morales, earning the Achievement Award for hosting an excellent Detachment Warrior Snow Day!

Welcome to week 8! This week we had our Incredible Race. The competition between flights forced teams to make fast decisions and move with urgency as they raced other flights to complete challenges across campus. Using a map, teams were required to locate different objectives around the college and march there with speed and accuracy. When they arrived at the destination, they were required to complete a specific marching movement to receive the point.

Congratulations to Cadet Volk for winning the Top Stick Award!

Week 7 was our second wargaming scenario with every flight combined into one team. Each flight was puzzles to solve, hidden messages to decode, and information to send up. The flight in charge was then tasked with reporting that to our simulated presidential office. This Lead Lab tested team’s communication, planning, urgency and attention to detail.

Congratulations to Cadet Pinchak for winning the Top Stick award for week 7!

Week 6, the true test of team cohesion, stress management, and military knowledge. This week cadets were tested through the Military Skills Evaluation (MSE). The MSE is comprised of three portions: the Military Knowledge Test, The Flight Drill Evaluation, and the Open Ranks Inspection. Combined, these events create an environment designed to induce stress and challenge cadets to bring their best to the table. Through all the challenges the POC attempted to throw at our GMC they powered through and finished the week. On top of the challenge on Thursday, we also took the Physical Fitness Assessment aligning with this week's theme of evaluations!

Congratulations to Cadet Tobler for winning the Top Stick award for week 6!

Hello Det 860 we are back! Week five took us into space! Cadets were challenged to process loads of data while racing against the clock to produce an effective Course of Action (COA)against the enemy threat. Stress was high but the flights powered through! They wrapped up this challenge by presenting their COA’s to a board of judges to determine its effectiveness.

We would like to extend a special thanks to Space Force Lieutenant Colonel Doug Hale for attending our Lead Lab and providing some of his incredible knowledge of the space force for us!

Congratulations to Cadet Hayes for winning the Top Stick award for week 5!
