The Cache County Sheriff's Office proudly recognizes the outstanding men and women who go above and beyond in service to our community during our 2026 Law Enforcement Week.

These award recipients exemplify the highest standards of law enforcement, demonstrating courage, integrity, professionalism, leadership, and a steadfast commitment to serving others. While their dedication often goes unseen, this week we had the privilege of honoring their exceptional work and sacrifice.

National Police Week is a time to reflect, express our gratitude, and remember those who serve.

In Cache County and throughout the country, we remember that every badge belongs to someone who has chosen a life of service. This work often means long hours, sacrifice, and stepping up when others cannot. Our deputies are not just serving—they live here, raise their families here, and truly care about the people they protect.

This week, we honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty. We will not forget their courage and sacrifice. We also want to thank the families who support our law enforcement officers every day. Your strength makes their work possible.

To our deputies and all law enforcement professionals, thank you for your service, integrity, resilience, and dedication to keeping our communities safe.

National Corrections Officers Week | May 3–9, 2026

We honor the dedicated men and women of our Corrections Division who serve daily behind the walls of our jail. Though their work often goes unseen, it is essential to the safety, security, and well-being of our community.

Corrections officers do more than supervise inmates. They maintain order, respond to emergencies, and support rehabilitation and accountability. Their professionalism, resilience, and commitment do not go unnoticed.

To all of our corrections officers, thank you for your service, honor, integrity, and dedication to Cache County.

Von Williamson was sworn in as a deputy to Sheriff D. Douglas Bodrero in 1980 and served honorably in many positions during his career, including the division commander for both the Patrol and Jail Divisions. Von was the Support Services lieutenant and was working on his master’s degree at Utah State University at the time of his death.

On April 26, 2004, Von, along with other law enforcement executives, was attending FBI National Academy training in Moab, Utah. Von died of a heart attack while surrounded by friends and talking about his family.

He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. Von was 46 at the time of his death and is survived by his wife, Diane, one son, and four daughters.

Sgt. Mark Olsen (retired)
Sergeant Olsen began working at the Cache County Sheriff’s Office in January 1981. Throughout his career, Mark served in Corrections, Patrol, Investigations, Civil, and School Resources. As a sergeant, he supervised patrol and later led the School Resource Division.

As a deputy, Mark was approachable and consistently willing to assist with both professional and personal matters. As a supervisor, Sergeant Olsen supported his team and encouraged high standards, particularly in report writing and public interactions.

Sergeant Olsen retired after 22 years of service. He will be fondly remembered for his positive demeanor, dedication to the profession, and commitment to mentoring younger deputies.

We extend our heartfelt condolences and ongoing support to his wife, Lucy, and their family during this time.

Mark's services will be on April 11, 2026, in Young Ward.
