When gun violence impacts a neighborhood, the effects can ripple throughout the entire community.

OVP's Community Sanctuary Project (CSP) provides a safe, confidential space for residents to connect with mental health professionals, emotional and spiritual support, and community resources following a critical incident.

CSP is here to help communities connect, find support and begin healing together.

Our team is hard at work on the streets of Louisville and in the halls of Frankfort!

Our own Emily Adkins was asked to be a panelist at the District Judge Judicial Conference. She presented her YASI (Youth Assessment Screening Instrument) project that helps youth early in the juvenile justice process get to the right services faster. That makes them more likely to stay out of trouble and get the assistance they need.

Meet the Team: Cate Schanie

Turning data into meaningful action is at the heart of Cate Schanie’s work.

As a Senior Policy Analyst on the Data, Innovation and Special Projects team at Louisville Metro’s Office of Violence Prevention, Cate uses data, spatial analytics and innovative technologies to help strengthen violence prevention efforts across Louisville.

Cate earned her Master of Public Health from the University of Louisville with a concentration in Epidemiology. Her work is rooted in environmental justice and primary prevention, with a passion for translating complex data into actionable public health solutions. She’s also increasingly interested in the intersection of trauma and neuropsychiatry.

Outside of work, Cate is an avid animal enthusiast and proud cat mom to George. She loves learning obscure animal facts and is always up for a conversation about wildlife, science or the latest interesting fact you’ve discovered.

Thank you, Cate, for bringing data, curiosity and innovation to the work of building a safer Louisville.
