This week marked the anniversary of the Griswold v. Connecticut Supreme Court decision, which granted married couples the right to use birth control.

I was honored to speak at a press conference about right-wing threats to contraception, because the efforts to take away birth control access are very real.

There is no room for political interference in private, personal decisions. Birth control is basic health care.

Wisconsin needs to pass the Right to Contraception Act, so that our access to birth control is protected no matter what Trump or the Supreme Court does.

I always loved Michael Johnson as a community leader and an advocate for children. I am so sad to hear of the news of his passing, and I hope his family and loved ones know how much of a positive impact he made.

Michael Johnson, the CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County (BGCDC) and a prominent figure in Madison’s Black and broader community, has died, his family told Madison365. He was 50. BGCDC…

No other nation tolerates this level of gun violence. It's a policy choice, and common sense gun reform and safety laws are possible.

On this National Gun Violence Awareness Day, we stand up to the gun lobby and extreme far right advocates that ignore the facts. We need background checks, extreme risk protections, waiting periods, and safe storage requirements to make us all safer, without infringing on second amendment rights.

I had a wonderful time at the World Championship Cheese Contest back in March, showcasing the best cheeses right here in the best dairy state.

Happy Dairy Month and all year long! Wisconsin is home to the most dedicated dairy farmers, who work hard every day to provide delicious products. Thank you to the farmers, cheesemakers, manufacturers, buttermakers, whey processors, suppliers, and everyone who loves the diary industry!

The criminalization of pregnant people must be stopped. We need to use our criminal justice resources to prevent and punish actual crimes - not for harming women who need help in their pregnancy.

I've been an advocate for our reproductive freedoms and a staunch critic of all efforts to criminalize pregnancy and healthcare for my entire career. Women should not lose our rights when we become pregnant.

What moms need and deserve are the resources to raise our kids in a safe, healthy way and that starts with pregnancy. Let's work together to get moms the healthcare, mental health supports, and assistance they need to care for themselves and their family.

We must always remember and acknowledge the invaluable service of so many women and men that gave their lives for our freedoms. And in their honor, we fight for protections to our personal freedoms and rights.

I will always stand up for our veterans and fight for peace.

Baby bonds are an evidence-based, relatively low-cost way to reduce the persistent wealth gaps that permeate our society – a related but different problem than the wage gap, which can be somewhat alleviated by increasing the minimum wage, investments in workforce and higher education/training, and strengthening collective bargaining rights.

In conjunction with other policies, we can become a pro-family, pro-baby, pro-equity state. See what I wrote for the May issue of Baby Blogs on the Institute on Race, Power and Political Economy in the link below!
