Upcoming Public Meetings on the Establishment of a Local Historic District in Milan

Planning Commission Meeting
June 23 at 7 PM at City Hall

Public Hearing
July 27 at 6:30 PM at City Hall

A Historic District Study Committee (HDSC) was formed eight years ago with the goal of determining if the City of Milan should establish a local historic district in the downtown. They are now finalizing their work and preparing to present their findings before making a recommendation to City Council.

In Michigan, establishing a local historic district involves placing a specific geographic area under legal protection in accordance with the Local Historic Districts Act, PA 169. This process requires that any exterior modifications, demolitions, or new constructions be reviewed by a Historic District Commission (HDC) to maintain the area's architectural and historical character.

Despite a loss by the Tigers, everyone had a great time on our excursion to Comerica Park yesterday,

We rode in comfort on a charter bus from Golden Limousine International. Our driver, Tyler, was the best.

Navigating a large group to a single check-in at the gate was a bit challenging, but everyone did fantastic and got inside before the first pitch.

The weather was next to perfect, Our seats, on the first base side, were in the sun for most of the game. We enjoyed a variety of ballpark food and beverages and saw a Tiger homerun.

Everyone made it back to the bus safely and on time, with fellow travel companions lending a hand where needed.

On the return trip home, we started gathering ideas for where our next trip might take us.

Although we didn’t manage to capture a group photo—or many pictures, for that matter—we would love to share a few of the shots we did take. If you were part of the trip and have photos, please feel free to share them here!

Thank you to everyone on the trip. We loved traveling with you and are looking forward to another trip in the near future. Stay tuned for details.
