Remember, the Roxy Theater offers open captions for the following screenings when available:
Mondays: Last screening of new release movies.
Tuesdays: First screening of new release movies.
Weekends: Matinée screenings of new release movies.

And, if requested at least 24 hour in advance, the Roxy can often add captions to existing screenings.

MAS staff work together to help residents across Missoula County keep their independence. Barbara “Bobbi” Halle and her daughter, April, faced an uncertain future when a transient ischemic attack affected Bobbi’s memory. But Rural Resource Specialist Melani Best connected the family with resources, and Care Navigator Sahna Ballek coordinated support, including home safety improvements and help accessing benefits. Client Support Specialist Andy Ostrowski became a familiar face, driving Bobbi to medical appointments, the grocery store, the library, and weekly activities at the senior center. Bobbi and April continue living together in their Bonner home.

“It really enriched our lives when we needed it,” Bobbi said. “Whatever your needs are, you’re going to find it—or they’ll try to help you as much as they can.”

Thanks to Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium for opening its doors to another Community Table gathering. This may be the most popular location for our pop-up lunches! Older neighbors came together to enjoy Q from Notorious P.I.G. and good company--human and invertebrate 🤓🦋🪲

Jeannie Pittman is pictured here with longtime volunteer driver Greg Superneau. When foot surgery left Jeannie temporarily unable to climb the steep stairs leading to her home in Alberton, friends from her church stepped in, opening their homes while she recovered. Another member of the congregation suggested Meals on Wheels. The meals made recovery easier in unexpected ways. Rather than relying on the families hosting her to prepare every meal, she could eat when she needed to. Jeannie appreciated the personal connection with drivers too, and is especially fond of Greg, who brought her first delivery. “He’s a darling,” she said.

Did you know that neighbors, friends, and family members often reach out to MAS to refer folks who could benefit from Meals on Wheels? We rely on everyone in the community to look out for each other so that we can support the independence of older Montanans. And sometimes Meals on Wheels is useful just to help a person get past a temporary challenge.

Please get in touch if you think you or someone you know could benefit from meal delivery and friendly check-ins! Short-term or long-term welcome! Eligibility can be determined quickly and we can often start delivering in just a few days.

Did you know that MAS staff serve vets in communities across western and central Montana—from Helena and Great Falls to the Bitterroot Valley and Seeley Lake—by helping coordinate Veteran Directed Care?

Close to 28 percent of America’s 15.8 million veterans are age 75 or older, and for many, home is where they feel safest.

Veteran Directed Care (VDC) helps eligible vets remain at home by giving participants a flexible budget to manage their own support. At its heart, VDC is built on choice and trust, and by allowing veterans to hire family members, VDC often transforms unpaid caregiving into compensated work, helping reduce financial strain and burnout.

NEW added time/location! Wed., Aug. 26, 1-2pm at First Security Bank at their 1704 Dearborn location. Thanks to a new partnership, MAS is offering a second Tech Café and Fraud Clinic again this month. Work side by side with a friendly neighbor who can help solve small tech troubles and volunteers from First Security will offer extra tips and help so that you can protect yourself from getting scammed and hacked. Please register via the link in bio and share to help us spread the word about this new offering.

Troubleshoot problems on your phone or device, from login issues to identifying potential scams and more. We offer this FREE tech-help session for older Missoulians on the first Monday of every month at our offices (pictured) and it gets pretty packed--so now we're able to offer additional dates and locations like this one due to the support at First Security!

💧🌳 Water bills can run high during the summer, but if you lose a mature tree, your property heats up and you'll end up paying more to keep your home temps liveable during our summer heat waves. Help keep our urban forest alive by giving your trees the water they need!

Missoula is rich in a lot of things--in terms of businesses, off the top of our head we're thinking about coffee shops, bakeries, bookstores, and gyms 💯🤓💪 Love this post and our community culture (our Montana-wide community really) that values and enjoys active lifestyles for all ages 😍 Go Don! 🙌

What is your PEAK Accomplishment?

Don has been using the PEAK to achieve all of his running goals since the club opened in the 80s. He boasts a sub 3-hour Boston Marathon, funded two University scholarships by running across the state, and has run 44 marathons since he took up running in his 40s (including at least one 50-miler on his training buddy’s 50th birthday 🎉 ). He’s one of our staple members, and we know it’s going to be a good day when Don shows up!
