A highlight of our Summer Art wall "What Mount Vernon Means to Me". Our Summer Teen Intern, Dulce, made this community art project as part of the 2026 Teen Intern Connected Learning Project. Come look at different perspectives of what Mount Vernon means to the community!

Can I find a library-grade copy of Dan Brown’s "The Da Vinci Code" in a Little Free Library?

After discovering our public library’s was going to have to buy a copy of "The Da Vinci Code" for the first time in 20 years. I set out on a epic quest to hunt down the 10th best-selling non-religious book of all time all to avoid spending taxpayer money.

Along the way, I examine the Little Free Library movement, review Little Free Libraries, look into adult literacy statistics, highlight common design flaws (why does nobody build these for actual picture book dimensions?!), and share some tips for building a better community book exchange.
