The Mount Vernon Police Department consists of 47 commissioned Police Officers, two Community Service Officers, one Animal Control Officer, ten records/clerical personnel, one outreach coordinator one Park Ranger and approximately 50 volunteers. We provide service to a po

pulation of almost 36,000 over an area of 11.3 square miles. With a community based policing philosophy and practice, our number one operational priority is the prevention of crime. Yesterday Officers from the Mount Vernon Police Department participated in the Special Olympics Torch Run. Officers carried the torch from the Riverside Bridge to Conway during its northwest leg. The torch continues through Snohomish county today. This event helps raise money for the special Olympics in June.

Thank you so much to everyone who worked so hard to make the vaccine and microchip clinic a success! Around 160 pets were served. Special thanks to for making this happen. Thanks also to Dr. Casper, Dr. Black and Dr. Bell for your time and expertise. Finally thanks to everyone who came out with their fur friends. You were patient having to wait in the morning rain and everyone had smiles and great attitudes. Makes me very proud of our community!
