Big things happen when community comes together!
Last Friday, the Charleston County Greenbelt team rolled up their sleeves to help clean up litter along North Charleston’s beautiful Noisette Creek. Thanks to the Sustainability Institute and AmeriCorpsSC for hosting this impactful event!
Together we collected 216 pounds of trash — and 81 pounds of that was diverted for recycling! 🌿💧♻️
Every pound removed helps protect our waterways, wildlife, and community. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue making a cleaner, greener Charleston!

The Town of Mt. Pleasant broke ground today on the new Gary Santos Park, honoring Coach Gary Santos. This project will transform the Rifle Range Road property into a recreational hub connected to Mount Pleasant Way — featuring a 2‑court gymnasium, program rooms for art, music, dance and camps, 3.5 lighted fields, tennis and pickleball courts, playgrounds, picnic pavilions, trails, and more. This property was helped funded by the Charleston County Greenbelt Program.

Lowcountry Land Trust is proud to announce the permanent protection of Oscar’s Place, a nearly 50-acre property on Johns Island that ensures the land will remain undeveloped forever.

We are so pleased to announce that the 9.6 acre tract where the Edisto Island Museum stands is now under a conservation easement. The easement will permanently protect the wildlife habitat and wetlands on the land from residential and commercial development. The easement also will allow us to continue to run the Museum and expand its amenities in the future for the public's benefit.

Many thanks to the Edisto Island Open Land Trust, the SC Conservation Bank and the Charleston County Greenbelt Program for their partnership with us on this important project. We are proud that we have taken this important step in preserving and protecting our little corner of Edisto, while ensuring that future plans for the Museum will not be compromised.
