Did you know our summer reading program is now open to adults as well as children? Here's a recommendation for our adult patrons: Across the Board: How Games Make us Human (DB134566).

"Tabletop game aficionado Tim Clare takes us through history and across civilizations. We learn how the same games emerge over and over and how they've evolved and spread, as well as about the contemporary culture of gaming: with rousing enthusiasm, Tim explores games as familiar to us as Monopoly or chess, as niche as Magic: The Gathering and as unexpected as the Japanese poetry-matching card game karuta. We learn about games as recreation and as ritual, and above all, we see how they can be a way for us to come together—because of all the things that make us human, there’s nothing quite so set up for connection as sharing a round of cards or the roll of a d20."

Did you know April 19-25th is not only National Library Week, but also National Volunteer Week? At the Oklahoma Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (OLBPH), we have a dedicated group of volunteers we’d like to thank for giving their time and talents to help with many projects in our digital recording studio.

Seven days a week, our team of volunteers record audio content from newspaper articles in publications such The Oklahoman and Tulsa World. The volunteers also help us produce an audio version of Oklahoma Today magazine as well as talking books with Oklahoma connections.

Thank you, volunteers!
