TOMORROW!!!

Summer officially begins with the Perry Public Library FamilyFest! This exciting, family-friendly event will kick off our highly anticipated Summer Library Program. Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 6th, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, for this can’t-miss event. Bring your entire family to enjoy a variety of free activities, including the Foam Blaster, giant bubbles, inflatables, outdoor games, a gaming truck filled with a selection of consoles, balloon twisters, a dunk tank, and a petting zoo!

Plus, this year, history will come alive at FamilyFest as Live History pays a visit to Perry! Live History, an international touring theater company, specializes in bringing your local history to life. FamilyFest participants will experience Live History’s interactive theatrical experience by joining in missions, tasks, and puzzle-based interactions with live performers – all based on Perry’s unique and rich history! “In Time” is the perfect free, immersive experience to kick off our Summer Library Program, celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary with the theme “Read, White, and Blue.”

The Perry Volunteer Fire Department and the Friends of the Perry Public Library will also offer a $2.00 meal of either a hot dog or pork loin as a fundraiser. Thank you to our collaborative partners and sponsors who make this event possible: City of Perry, Friends of the Perry Public Library, Perry Public Library Foundation, Bock Family Foundation, Dallas County Public Health, Hispanics United for Perry, Iowa PBS, Perry Volunteer Fire Department, Rotary Club of Perry, Fareway, Raccoon Valley Radio, HyVee, and Rhonda Olson’s Popcorn Stand. For more information, go to www.perry.lib.ia.us, visit the library, or call the library at 515-465-3569.

The National Weather Service has indicated that flooding is possible this evening and tomorrow.

Bottom Line Up Front: Storms are likely tonight, mainly after 6 PM through 6 AM. Heavy rainfall of 2 to 4 inches in is the main threat. Dallas County is under a Flood Watch. Additional storms are possible late Friday evening, with damaging wind and hail possible, though current trends from the National Weather Service forecasters indicate a potential shift to Southern Iowa, conditional on tonight's storms.

Additional forecast information is available through the National Weather Service Des Moines Severe Weather Decision Support Services Page.

Requested Actions: River and stream conditions in Dallas County are currently at normal levels, however heavy rain from slow moving storms could produce some sharp rises. Urban flooding is of greater concern. Consider message reminding public to avoid driving through flooded areas and of frequent trouble spots. See graphic in attached slides regarding Flooding At Night.

EMA Duty Officer: The duty officer is available 24/7 by contacting Dallas County Sheriff's Office Communications at 515-993-4567. Please report any damage or flooding within your jurisdiction and resource requests to the duty officer for EMA coordination and support.
