Spirits Alive's Historian Ron Romano presents on his new book. The Association for Gravestone Studies has named Ron the 2026 recipient of the Harriette Merrifield Forbes Award, its highest honor, in recognition of his work to advance the study of historic cemeteries and gravestones.

in 1803, Commodore Edward Preble assumed command of the legendary frigate USS Constitution in Boston, Massachusetts. Preble would soon lead "Old Ironsides" and his squadron into the Mediterranean during the First Barbary War.
His leadership deeply influenced a generation of young naval officers, who would go on to command the U.S. Navy during the War of 1812. A historic day for naval leadership!
