Are you thinking of adopting a dog? Or maybe you already have and are finding there are things you hadn't anticipated. While there are many dog training books and dog trainers that will purport to solve all of your dog's "issues", the truth is that the bond between you and your new dog is the most important aspect to that training. Any method of training that doesn't strengthen that bond, or even puts that bond in jeopardy, is not worth your consideration.
I'm happy to say there is a book, written by stellar authors with many years of handling every sort of dog behavior imaginable, that will help you to navigate the wondrous world of doggy companionship. Indeed, this is the book I wish I had when i adopted my first dog (the book was written in 2011, and I adopted my first dog in 1989). The book is, "Love Has No Age Limit", by Patricia McConnell, PhD, and Karen London, PhD. There are a limited number of copies available for free at the Hampshire County Library, donated by Alyson Reeves, who would like to see every dog living in a happy household (but, alas, I have limited funds, so it's having to be just the lucky few).
