Today, I pause to remember September 11, 2001 — a day that changed our nation forever.

We remember the nearly 3,000 people whose lives were taken, the families who continue to carry their memories, and the first responders who ran toward danger without hesitation to save others.

We also honor the service members who answered the call in the years that followed, carrying the weight of that day with them as they served and sacrificed to protect our country.

Sitting here in Burbank today, I’m reminded that remembrance is not just about looking back. It is about honoring the lives we lost, recognizing the courage and sacrifice of those who served, and carrying forward the compassion and unity that brought us together.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Today, I stood with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and a coalition of elected officials and entertainment industry leaders at a post-production studio in North Hollywood urging Governor Newsom to sign Assembly Bill 2319.  The bill establishes the California Post-Production Tax Credit program, a targeted incentive to encourage film and television post-production work to remain in California, supporting high-quality jobs, preserving long-standing industry infrastructure, and generating significant economic activity throughout the state.
 
AB 2319 creates a post-production incentive that allows post-production expenditures incurred in California to be eligible for the tax credit, regardless of where principal photography occurred.  By investing in a targeted credit, California can keep high-wage post-production jobs in the state, increase the utilization of our existing post-production facilities and scoring stages, support small businesses and vendors, generate taxable income and economic activity across multiple sectors, and help California compete with other locations offering post-production incentives.

It was a meaningful evening in Glendale last night in the lead-up to COP17 🌿🌎

I had the pleasure of attending the pre-UN Convention on Biological Diversity COP17 reception, co-hosted by the Consulate General of Armenia in Los Angeles and the California Global Biodiversity Alliance (CalGBA).

It was inspiring to connect with leaders, experts, and fellow advocates committed to protecting biodiversity and advancing global cooperation for a more sustainable future. The conversations reinforced the importance of collaboration across borders, communities, and sectors to safeguard the incredible diversity of life on our planet.

Grateful for an evening of thoughtful dialogue, new connections, and shared commitment to biodiversity conservation. 🇦🇲🌱🌍

Every fight I take on in Sacramento – protecting workers’ rights, defending fair wages, standing up for healthcare people can actually rely on – traces back to lessons my family taught me about the value of organized labor long before I ever thought about running for office.

This is personal to me. It’s why I’ve been a dues-paying union member myself, and it’s why I ran for office in the first place. I’ve seen firsthand what collective bargaining has built for working families like mine, and I know exactly what’s at stake when people in power try to chip away at it.

Labor Day is dedicated to honoring and recognizing the American labor movement, including its many achievements such as weekends, holidays, 40-hour weeks, and workplace protections. That’s what we should remember as we celebrate this holiday weekend.

I hope you’ll take a moment to thank a union member in your life. And take a moment to get some rest, too. You deserve it.
