Have you heard of PFAS—better known as "forever chemicals"?

The Los Angeles Times recently interviewed me about my bill, AB 1603, which would phase out the use of PFAS-containing pesticides.

An excerpt: "Assembly Bill 1603 by Assemblymember Nick Schultz (D-Burbank) would have phased out the use of pesticides that contain perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, known as PFAS chemicals, a family of compounds that can be lasting and harmful to humans."

I am proud to have Team Schultz represented at the Filipino American Business Association of Glendale and Greater LA County's Filipino-American Friendship Day Summer Luau at the YMCA of Glendale.

During the celebration, my district staff presented a California State Assembly Certificate of Recognition to outgoing President Edith M. Fuentes in honor of her many years of dedicated leadership, community service, and commitment to strengthening FABAG-GLAC. Her service has helped elevate the organization's visibility, trust, and impact throughout our community.

Congratulations to the incoming 2026–2027 officers and board members, and welcome to the new members. Thank you to FABAG-GLAC for your continued work supporting Filipino American businesses, fostering community connections, and celebrating the rich cultural contributions that make our district stronger.

I'm in Chicago this week for the National Conference of State Legislatures, and here's why that matters to you.

This is where state lawmakers from across the country come together to share ideas, compare what's working, and tackle the challenges we're all facing.

I'm here to learn, ask questions, and bring back practical solutions that can help strengthen our communities, support our families, and make state governmentwork better for the people I represent.

The best ideas don't stop at state lines—and I’m committed to bringing home the ones that can make a real difference for our district.

Stay tuned this week as I share what I’m learning and how it can benefit our community!

I recently visited Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall at the invitation of Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn.

Hearing directly from these young people about their lived experiences in the juvenile justice system was a powerful reminder that good public policy begins with listening. We had an open conversation about the challenges they face, the importance of rehabilitation, and the impact legislation can have on their futures.

I also had the opportunity to discuss AB 1646, the HUG Act, and AB 1647—bills inspired by the voices and experiences of youth like those I met today. Their thoughtful questions and honest perspectives reinforced why it is so important that we continue working toward a justice system that prioritizes fairness, accountability, and opportunity.

Thank you to Supervisor Hahn and everyone at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall for creating space for this meaningful dialogue. As the Chair of Public Safety, I remain committed to ensuring the voices of young people are heard as we shape policies that affect their lives.

I joined the California Post Alliance Town Hall at Sony Pictures Studios to discuss Assembly Bill 2319 and the future of California's post-production industry.

AB 2319 is about strengthening one of California's signature industries by supporting the thousands of talented professionals and businesses that power picture editing, sound, music scoring, visual effects, color grading, and finishing. During the town hall, I shared updates on the bill, answered questions from industry professionals, and discussed the importance of keeping post-production jobs and investment here in California.

Thank you to the California Post Alliance for bringing together members of the post-production community for this important conversation and for your continued advocacy on behalf of an industry that supports more than 12,000 workers across over 1,800 businesses statewide.

Congratulations to Chief Robert William on his appointment as the 21st Chief of Police for the Glendale Police Department.

It was an honor to attend the swearing-in ceremony and celebrate this historic milestone as Chief William becomes the first Armenian American to lead the Glendale Police Department. A lifelong Glendalian, Chief William has dedicated more than two decades of service to the department, rising through the ranks from Police Cadet to Chief of Police.

His commitment to public safety, community engagement, and compassionate leadership reflects the very best of Glendale. Wishing Chief William continued success as he leads the department into its next chapter. Congratulations! 👏🚔

Watch my interview with CBS LA Mornings as I discuss Assembly Bill 2319, legislation that creates a standalone post-production tax incentive program with a proposed $100 million investment.

The concept is simple: if a production is filmed elsewhere but brings its post-production work back to California, it can qualify for up to $6 million in tax incentives.

AB 2319 answers a question so many Californians are asking: What can we do to keep our jobs here? This is a bipartisan issue. This is a winning issue. And it's about protecting the thousands of skilled workers who make California the entertainment capital of the world.

Thank you to the California Post Alliance and IATSE Local 700 for leading the charge. Join us in urging the California Senate Appropriations Committee and Governor Gavin Newsom to support AB 2319.

It was a pleasure to welcome the ANCA Western Region Internship Program to our District Office in Burbank!

These inspiring cohort of college student leaders are gaining firsthand experience in public service, government affairs, community organizing, advocacy, and nonprofit leadership while learning how to make a meaningful impact in their communities.

Thank you to the Armenian National Committee of America Western Region (ANCA-WR) for investing in the next generation of civic leaders.

I enjoyed sharing an inside look at the work of our District Office and discussing the importance of legislation, constituent services, community engagement, and public service.

The future is bright, and I look forward to seeing all that these young leaders accomplish!
