As we continue to see ICE raids in our communities, I want to highlight the work thatās being done in the State Assembly to strengthen public safety and reject the Trump Administrationās failed immigration policies.
In the California State Assembly, weāve passed nearly two dozen bills that reaffirm our commitment to keep all Californians safe at schools, businesses, hospitals, and childcare centers. In fact, weāve led the nation in holding ICE accountable and fighting back against unconstitutional efforts designed to terrorize immigrant families and communities of color.
When the Trump Administration argues that ICE violence and killings are simply agents ādoing their jobs,ā weāre saying firmly: not in California.
The bills passed by the Assembly and now moving through the California State Senate empower California law enforcement to investigate federal agent killings, impose new levies on detention centers, require disclosures when ICE is present in our communities, prevent locals from assisting in immigration raids, and bar former ICE agents from positions of authority.
