Brackenridge High School welcomed its incoming ninth graders to an open house and elective fair last month. Open to families of current eighth graders, the event featured representatives from different electives and extracurricular activities, so students can ensure they make their best fit choices for high school.

Families also enjoyed performances from mariachi, band, dance and cheer along with free hotdogs, cotton candy, and free shirts screen printed by the Brackenridge Art Department.

Brackenridge High School les dio la bienvenida a sus próximos estudiantes de noveno grado con una jornada de puertas abiertas y una exposición de materias optativas. El evento, dirigido a las familias de los estudiantes que actualmente cursan el octavo grado, contó con la presencia de representantes de diferentes materias optativas y actividades extracurriculares, para que los estudiantes puedan asegurarse de tomar las decisiones más adecuadas para la preparatoria.

Las familias también disfrutaron de presentaciones del mariachi, la banda, el equipo de baile y de las animadoras, además de hotdogs gratuitos, algodones de azúcar y camisas gratuitas impresas por el Departamento de Arte de Brackenridge.

As they get ready to transition to college, seven 2026 district graduates have received the timely news they are 2026 Dell Scholars.

The students — from Lanier High School and Travis Early College High School — are part of a group of 500 Dell Scholars nationwide who will receive a $20,000 scholarship, a Dell laptop, textbook credits, emergency funds, and personalized, multi-faceted support, including academic advisors, professional connections and access to free teletherapy.

This year’s SAISD Dell Scholars include:

• Lanier High School: Eduardo T.
• Travis Early College High School: Joel A., Abril B., Sebastian P., Kayliah S., Pearson S. and Felix W.

During tonight’s board meeting, the trustees and state senator José Menéndez recognized Superintendent Jaime Aquino on his retirement, honoring an extraordinary 40-year career in education, including the last four years serving SAISD. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for his leadership and dedication and wish him continued happiness, good health, and fulfillment in retirement.

Durante la reunión de la junta directiva de esta noche, los miembros de la junta directiva y el senador estatal José Menéndez rindieron homenaje al superintendente Jaime Aquino con motivo de su jubilación, en reconocimiento a una extraordinaria trayectoria de 40 años en el ámbito de la educación, incluidos los últimos cuatro años al servicio de SAISD. Advanced Learning Academy AP World History teacher Brent Ostos received a 2025-26 Docent Teacher Award for the outstanding preparation he gave his students prior to their field trip to the McNay Art Museum. Ostos was one of only two teachers honored by the McNay at a ceremony last month. He was recognized for the planning with McNay docents prior to the trip and the students’ preparation and prior exposure to art movements in conjunction with their project-based learning assignments. Congratulations, Mr. Ostos!

Brent Ostos, maestro de historia mundial AP en Advanced Learning Academy, recibió el premio «Docent Teacher» 2025-26 por la excelente preparación que brindó a sus estudiantes antes de su visita al Museo de Arte McNay. Ostos fue uno de los dos únicos maestros galardonados por McNay en una ceremonia el mes pasado. Se le reconoció por la planificación realizada junto con los guías del McNay antes de la visita, así como por la preparación de los estudiantes y su familiarización previa con los movimientos artísticos, en el marco de sus tareas de aprendizaje basado en proyectos. ¡Felicidades, Sr. Ostos!

On-Site Property Walkthroughs are occurring this Wednesday, June 17 as a part of the sealed bid process.
