County of San Luis Obispo Probation Department

County of San Luis Obispo Probation Department Accountability and Opportunity The County of San Luis Obispo provides a wide array of services to both juvenile and adult law offenders.

It provides these services through its Probation Department. The County Probation Department contributes to the safety of the community by conducting investigations for the Court, enforcing orders of the Courts through community supervision, assisting victims of crime, operating a safe and secure juvenile hall, and facilitating the socialization of offenders. The Probation Department is responsibl

e for providing community corrections services, which are mandated by law. These services can be divided into three parts:

1. Adult Services is responsible for the supervision of offenders placed on probation by the Court or released from prison under Post Release Community Supervision and for making sentencing recommendations to the Court.

2. Juvenile Services is responsible for supervision of minors placed on probation and home detention by the Court; school based prevention services; and making disposition recommendations to the Juvenile Court.

3. Juvenile Hall is responsible for the staffing and operation of the 45-bed County Juvenile Hall. In order to deliver quality community corrections services, the Probation Department utilizes evidence based practices when supervising offenders. The Probation Department supervises offenders based upon the risk, need and responsive principle. Supervision levels are based upon the defendant’s risk to re-offend; i.e., be convicted of a new law violation. Additionally, provision of treatment services is targeted to address the defendant’s needs most associated with criminal behavior and is delivered in a method shown by the research to reduce recidivism.

At Probation, our mission is rooted in supporting opportunity, restoring lives, and strengthening our community. This week, that mission goes beyond our offices 🩸

From officers to administrative professionals, our team showed what it means to live out our mission. Yesterdays donations made a direct investment in someone’s second chance, someone’s recovery, someone’s life.

💪 This is more than a friendly competition between agencies, it’s an opportunity for our community to come together and make a real impact.

There’s still time to be part of this lifesaving effort. Blood drives are happening all week across SLO County! You can support Probation (or your favorite agency) at any donation location!

Pismo Beach PD will be wrapping up this competition for us all tomorrow and there are still appointments available. It’s a tight race this year with only a few pints separating agencies!
