Out with State Road Volunteer Fire Department last evening for a very large tree across Old Hwy 21. Had to wait until the power company came to clear a small portion that has wires in it. Can't be too careful with electricity of that level. Then of course.... The maintenance afterwards.....

So she's home, meet Engine 4. It's been at the shop getting some issues fixed, and the guys and gals really did a lot of work on it tonight. They loaded all the cross lays, supply line and tools. It could actually fight fire tonight if we needed it to. (but whatcha say let's not need to) 🤣. Your volunteers really put in the sweaty work at the meeting tonight.

This is a really nice truck. The community of Mountain Park will definitely benefit from it.

So as we have posted in the past, we have been blessed by some generous donations by larger departments that have given us very useful used equipment.

L and A Emergency Equipment in State Road connected me with a group of folks who were really in need South of us. So the United States requires our protective gear to be changed out every ten years. This is to assure the fire retardant properties are still working..Many other countries do not have these standards, nor are they financially assisted by the county/state government.

One of our fire fighting freinds was on a mission trip with his church when he was asked if he could get him a firefighting helmet, as they had not issued him basic safety equipment, because they didn't have it to give to him.

That is what started the discussion to help these folks in Guatemala and Brazil among other countries firefighters in need. .

All that to be said..... Some of the old Mountain Park Fire Department gear that is out of date (but still very functional) will be the first gear that these firefighters in third world countries may have ever had. I have attached the NFPA Standard that regulates departments gear. We hope it keeps them safe and we will continue to pass it forward, as other departments have done for us. Good karma. 😁

Good night of training. The new folks, Timmy, Madison and Sarah getting some airpak training and we flowed some water and practiced nozzle work. Some of the older, er....."exerienced".... firefighters passing along some knowledge.
