Hey Kids! Wish Sparky a Happy Birthday>

Help us wish Sparky the Fire Dog® a happy 75th birthday today!

For 75 years, Sparky has been helping kids and families learn how to stay fire safe at home and in their communities. Since 1951, he’s shared fire safety tips with generations of families, and he’s still wagging his tail and helping keep everyone safe today.

Want to do something simple for Sparky’s birthday? Test your smoke alarms and tell a friend to test theirs, too.

Also last night, the Township hired Shannon Kheno for the position of radio operator. Shannon has been around the Fire Department for many years because her dad Bill Selvia served as our radio operator for over 20 years. Welcome Shannon.

MUNDY TWP FD ELECTRIC VEHICLE TRAINING

On November 2nd, 2025, our firefighters got to do a specialized training with Scott McCloud on the technology and extrication procedures for patient rescue on a 2025 Ford Mach E SUV. We certainly learned a lot about the new hardened steel used on the vehicles, the 12 airbags in the new car, new vehicle fire blanket, how our tools shatter the new material that makes up the cars frame and body panels, and much more. We then got to cut, spread, break and expand different parts of the car like we would for extrication. The class was very informative and very much appreciated. We also got to try out a new tool that is available for purchase that is like a massive undercarriage water sprinkler to try and to keep the Electric Vehicle batteries cool called the Turtle Fire System. Thank you to Ford Motor Company, and Scott McCloud.
