MUNDY TWP FD – TRAINING

TODAY…SUNDAY JULY 12TH, 2026, OUR FIRE DEPARTMENT ALONG WITH GENESEE COUNTY 911, METRO PD, MEDSTAR, GRAND BLANC CITY FD, AND GENESEE COUNTY USAR TEAM WILL BE HAVING A SPECIALIZED TRAINING AT MUNDY TWP FIRE STATION 2 ON HILL RD. THE TRAINING STARTS AT 9AM.

Mundy Twp Fire Department had a residential structure fire at 2145 W. Maple Ave on Friday May 15, 2026 at 05:52. Upon arrival, there was heavy black smoke and fire out the front porch and Alpha and Bravo corner. With the assistance and mutual aid from Grand Blanc City Fire Department, Grand Blanc Township Fire Department, Flint Township Fire Department, Burton Station 1 Fire Department, Fenton Fire Department, Fenton Township Fire Department, and Swartz Creek Area Fire Department, the fire was extinguished and under control at 07:44. Mundy Township Fire Department wants to say thank you to all the help from our local departments that came and assisted. It was greatly appreciated.

Hey Kids! Wish Sparky a Happy Birthday>

Help us wish Sparky the Fire Dog® a happy 75th birthday today!

For 75 years, Sparky has been helping kids and families learn how to stay fire safe at home and in their communities. Since 1951, he’s shared fire safety tips with generations of families, and he’s still wagging his tail and helping keep everyone safe today.

Want to do something simple for Sparky’s birthday? Test your smoke alarms and tell a friend to test theirs, too.

Last night at our Township Board Meeting, Mike Vanderkuur was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain. He has served our township for over 26 years moving up through the ranks. Congratulations Captain Vanderkuur.

Also last night, the Township hired Shannon Kheno for the position of radio operator. Shannon has been around the Fire Department for many years because her dad Bill Selvia served as our radio operator for over 20 years. Welcome Shannon.

Thought and prayers go out to the Swartz Creek Fire Department and the Wistuba family. Bryan Wistuba, a retired Swartz Creek and Flint Township firefighter passed away on January 26, 2026. Rest in Peace.

Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the GAINES TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT (49) and the MacAuley family. Tina MacAuley was a former firefighter and now radio operator for Gaines Twp FD. Alger MacAuley, her husband, is a firefighter there also. Our prayers go out to our neighboring family! Rest in Heaven and Watch Over Us Tina. We got it from here.
