Fire Chief Barbara Tripp joined Tampa City Councilman Luis Viera - District 7, Tampa Firefighters Local 754, and the families of District Chief Franz Warner Sr. and Firefighter Isaac Royal, at Tampa City Council to honor their lasting legacy.
On August 4, 1981, 45 years ago, Firefighters Warner and Royal made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty at Fire Station 1. Franz Warner Sr. was a husband, father, Army veteran, and former Tampa Police officer. Isaac Royal was a first-year firefighter, Army Reserve member, and proud USF graduate. Both dedicated their lives to serving others.
Two generations of the Warner family, along with members of the Royal family, gathered to remember two men whose service and sacrifice continue to inspire Tampa Fire Rescue.
Their legacy lives on through their families, through those who wear the uniform today, and through a bond that has endured for 45 years. We are grateful to City Council for recognizing their sacrifice and supporting efforts to permanently honor their memory.
