🔶U.S. 24/K-4 ramp changes scheduled next week

Ramp changes at the U.S. 24/K-4 interchange north of Topeka are scheduled to take place next week, as part of the Kansas Department of Transportation’s U.S. 24 reconstruction project in Shawnee and Jefferson counties.

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, the westbound U.S. 24 exit ramp to K-4 will reopen to traffic. Once reopened, crews will then close the K-4 ramp to westbound U.S. 24. The ramp is expected to remain closed until December.

During the closure, drivers can follow the marked detour on NE 46th Street and Topeka Boulevard or find an appropriate alternative route.

All project work and traffic changes are conditions permitting and subject to change.

It’s See Tracks? Think Train Week, and troopers across the state are helping spread the word about railroad safety.

Troopers were in the Perry area sharing railroad safety information and reminding motorists to use extra caution anytime they approach tracks.

Yesterday, Kansas Highway Patrol Colonel Smith, Lieutenant Colonel Lehnherr, and other members of command staff met with Troop B area personnel to share agency updates, discuss current priorities, and provide insight into the direction of the Patrol moving forward.

The meeting provided an opportunity for open communication and continued connection between command staff and personnel.

We appreciate command staff taking the time to meet with us, share information, and connect with those serving our communities.

Over the weekend, Kansas Highway Patrol’s Breath Alcohol Unit partnered with the Kansas Wildlife & Parks - Game Wardens to help keep Perry Lake safe and impaired boaters off the water.

Just like driving a vehicle, boating under the influence puts everyone at risk. Our teams worked together to promote responsible boating, identify impaired operators, and make sure everyone could enjoy the lake and get home safely.

As summer winds down and the new school year gets underway, troopers were able to spend time at several National Night Out events in the area.

These events are great opportunities for troopers to connect with the communities, visit with families and share some safety reminders along the way.
