Introducing After School Multi-sport program, a weekday afternoon sports program for aspiring young players. The one-hour instructional sessions combine fundamental skills instruction with organized team competition with the goal of providing an enjoyable and educational after school athletic event. Women, do you love the game of basketball? Do you want to meet others with your interest and passion for
the game? Want to get some exercise and relieve some stress? If the answer is yes, starting on Monday, September 13th we have the program for you. All ability levels are encouraged to play. Open to women ages 16 and over.

Mondays at 6-8pm until 10/18. After 10/18, Mondays 7-9pm. $2 per visit. This program will be held at the Recreation Center.

Due to the statewide lifeguard shortage, South Kingstown Town Beach operation will be suspended Monday, August 30 – Friday, September 3. There will be no lifeguards on duty, swimming will be at your own. Limited facilities will be available during this time. Beach Operations will resume as regularly scheduled on Saturday, September 4 – Monday, September 6.

As of noon on August 25th, National Grid is reporting 77 South Kingstown customers without power, with an estimated restoration of 3:45pm.

For residents who do not have power and need potable water, until further notice the following Kingston and Union Fire Districts stations are allowing access to an outdoor garden hose for re-filling water containers.

Kingston Station, 35 Bills Road
Peace Dale Station, 460 High Street
Tuckertown Station, 1116 Ministerial Road
Matunuck Station, 49 School House Road
Residents are asked to please avoid blocking the fire station bay doors.

South Kingstown town beach will remain closed to parking and swimming tomorrow, Monday August 23. This will allow staff to assess the damage and start the clean up process. Stay safe SK!

For the safety of our staff and beach goers, South Kingstown town beach will be closing Saturday, August 21 at 5pm and the gates will be locked at 6pm to allow our staff time to finish prepping the property.

Sunday, August 22: the beach will be closed and the gate locked. There will be no swimming due to high surf and rip currents associated with Hurricane Henri. Check back here for an update on when the parking lot will be reopened.

Sunday's Concert on the Village Green has been cancelled.

National Night Out is an annual event that takes place in all 50 states and promotes community building and police-community relationships. Come celebrate why South Kingstown is an amazing place to live and work while getting to meet our community's first responders.

This year, more than ever, let’s see community support for this 152-year tradition in South Kingstown! Friends, neighbors - come out and line Main Street at 10am on Memorial Day! Immediately following the parade there will be a memorial ceremony and wreath laying at the Veterans monument at Saugatucket Park on High Street.

Our 152nd Memorial Day Parade is scheduled to begin at 10am with the staging area and start on Holly rd. Groups that are marching in the parade, check in at the south east corner of Hazard Field where the opening is on School St adjacent to the School St Apartments. If there is inclement weather, we will post here and on social media the parade is cancelled and the formal Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at the Sk Rec Center on Broad Rock rd. We look forward to seeing everybody Monday!!!

Spring Non-tackle football has arrived in South County. The NK Jaguars Youth Football has teamed with 401 Flex to bring a minimal commitment spring football league to boys & girls in grades K-8th in NK, EG, Gansett, SK, Jamestown, etc. similar to how Flag leagues are run. Open to kids of all levels and skill. Games primarily will be Friday evenings at McGinn Park/DMS. Season will run from ene of April to end of June. Visit 401flex.com for more info and to register. Use code β€œnkjaguars” when registering. This is separate from Fall tackle program and you do not have to play/have played for the Jags. Open to everyone and allow kids to still play their primary spring sports.

Just wondering on a Saturday, when families r going to play grounds why r the bath rooms locked. This was the case at the little play ground in back of old jr high and the portapotty was pad locked at the old south rd. No one can unlock them?
