Why is GVSC a #WorkplaceofChoice? ...because community and family are important to us and we have amazing events like this! Today, GVSC hosted a trick-or-treat event for the Detroit Arsenal Child Development Center. GVSC employees dressed in costume to hand out treats and to lead games with many of the Arsenal employee’s children. Although the kids left with their bags full, treats were had by all - evident by the smiles on everyone’s faces.

#ICYMI: Army Engineers from the Army Futures Command U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command and British Army's DSTL put their autonomous, driver-less, and driver-optional technology to the test right here at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center, Michigan-- read it from The Macomb Daily's Gina Joseph:

GVSC held a cake-cutting ceremony to recognize the MET-D / RCV team for its on-time delivery of six vehicles to the Army Test and Evaluation Command late last month.

“I want to compliment you on meeting your ship date,” said GVSC Director Jeffrey Langhout. “We’ve had great success these last few weeks, and I am honored to support our Army with you.”

The MET-D, or Mission Enabling Technologies Demonstrator, together with the Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) is an experimental system of vehicles designed to help Army leaders determine how best to integrate unmanned vehicles into ground combat formations. The technology puts ground robots between a threat and the human element.

Brig. Gen. Ross Coffman, who directs the Next Generation Combat Vehicle (NGCV) Cross Functional Team, told team members to be proud of their work.

“When someone asks you what you do, tell them that you make Soldiers’ lives better,” he said. “Every time we go to war, there is something there made here in Warren.”

Project lead Chris Ostrowski joined the leaders in cutting the cake.

Three transportation design students from the College for Creative Studies/ Transportation Design in Detroit unveiled models of their ground vehicle concepts which address the Army’s mobility needs for sustaining operations in extreme environments. The presentation was the culmination of a semester-long project, called Soldier Innovation Workshop, where students working with engineers and scientists at the Army’s Ground Vehicle Systems Center designed vehicle concepts with input from the Michigan National Guard. The top three CCS student winners were Henry Parrott, Seukjun Yun, and Ajeet S. Sandhu.

Army Futures Command Commander, Gen. John Murray, got first-hand experience with Tactical Wheeled Vehicle Leader Follower (LF) Technology at U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Ground Vehicle Systems Center yesterday. Leader-follower is a capability for an optionally-manned vehicle (In this case, a PLS, or Palletized Load System) to lead other autonomous follower vehicles, and/or to become an autonomous follower behind another optional-manned vehicle. The first issuing of this technology to Soldiers is coming shortly with the first thirty systems being issued to the 41st Transportation Company at JRTC and Fort Polk, Louisiana, in September and next thirty systems being issued to the 15th Transportation Company at Fort Sill and Fires Center of Excellence, Oklahoma, in January.

The 2019 Summer Hire Expo was held today at U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC). This event was an opportunity for the GVSC summer Interns to display the projects they worked on during their 10-week program. In 2019, GVSC hired 36 summer interns who worked on some very interesting projects. These interns were very excited to present and discuss their work with people stopping by their stations. The Expo also gave the interns an opportunity to learn more about the organization by checking out each other's presentations.
