A piece of ancient Jerusalem, uncovered after more than two millennia. 💍✨

A 2,200-year-old gold ring set with a red gemstone was uncovered in Jerusalem’s City of David. Researchers believe the ring may have belonged to a child and was intentionally buried as part of an ancient custom marking the transition from childhood to adulthood.

The ancient language has been part of the region for thousands of years and is still being preserved by Israel’s Aramean community.

Shadi Khalloul, an Israeli Aramean, helped secure official recognition of the Aramean ethnicity in Israel in 2014. Today, through the Israeli Christian Aramaic Association, he works to preserve the community’s language and heritage for future generations.
