🌍✨ We were delighted to welcome high school students from American University's Community of Scholars pre-college summer program to the Embassy of the Czech Republic!

🇨🇿 Cultural Attaché Tereza Janáková introduced students to the Czech Republic, followed by an engaging Q&A with Tereza and PR Specialists Andrea Pohl and Mary Fetzko on Czech culture, public diplomacy, international relations, and the Embassy's role in strengthening Czech-American relations. 🇨🇿🤝🇺🇸

💬 Students had the opportunity to gain a firsthand look at diplomacy in action and learn how embassies promote international cooperation, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding around the world.

🎓 The Community of Scholars at American University's School of International Service is a three-week pre-college program for rising high school juniors and seniors. Through college-level coursework, experiential learning, and visits to government agencies and international organizations across Washington, DC, students deepen their understanding of global affairs while building connections with peers who are passionate about creating positive change.

🌟 It was a pleasure to host these inspiring future leaders, and we wish them every success as they continue their academic journeys and pursue careers that make a difference! 🇨🇿🇺🇸

A remarkable journey of courage and memory comes full circle! 🇺🇸🇨🇿

On July 22, 2026, a historic American WWII flag officially returned home to Hoosick Falls, NY. After being featured in a landmark exhibition in the Czech Republic, the flag was proudly returned by our Defense Attaché, Brigadier General Martin Sikora, and his assistant, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Michal Daniš.

A particularly moving moment occurred as Bruce Patire, son of veteran Cruce "Rocky" Patire, looked at the American flag that was once given to his father. To honor this extraordinary legacy and family connection, Bruce Patire was presented with the Commemorative Medal of General Medek on behalf of the Director of the Military History Institute in Prague.

This flag stands as a living testament to the bravery of WWII soldiers, the liberation of Western Bohemia, and the deep, enduring bond between the United States and the Czech Republic. 🇺🇸🇨🇿

We are deeply honored to help preserve these shared stories of freedom and remembrance.

🎬✨ Our Summer Film Series is officially underway!

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night at the Embassy of the Czech Republic for the opening screening of Four Murders Are Enough, Darling (Čtyři vraždy stačí, drahoušku)! Guests brought blankets, enjoyed Czech treats, and laughed along to director Oldřich Lipský's beloved 1970 comedy—a witty spoof of American gangster and detective films that has become one of the great classics of Czech cinema.

The evening was opened by PR Specialist Mary Fetzko and Cultural Attaché Tereza Janáková. We loved sharing a wonderful evening of laughter, classic Czech cinema, and summer fun under the stars. 🌙🍿

Missed the first film? There's still time to experience two more beloved Czech comedy classics on our Embassy grounds!

📅 August 6, 9:00 PM (Gate opens 8:30 PM)
🎥 You Are a Widow, Sir! (Pane, vy jste vdova!)
🧠 A wildly imaginative sci-fi comedy featuring brain transplants, mistaken identities, and delightfully absurd humor.

📅 August 20, 9:00 PM (Gate opens 8:30 PM)
🎥 Adela Has Not Had Supper Yet (Adéla ještě nevečeřela)
🕵️ A legendary detective, a giant carnivorous plant, and one of the most beloved comedy adventures in Czech cinema.

🌟 Bring a blanket or lawn chair, gather your friends and family, and enjoy unforgettable evenings of laughter under the stars.

🥤 Light refreshments will be available for purchase (cash only).

🎹 Czech Craftsmanship Takes the Stage at the PTG Convention

Petrof Pianos are on display at the Piano Technician’s Guild in Arlington, VA, where visitors have the opportunity to experience the sound and craftsmanship of these exceptional Czech instruments firsthand.

Founded in 1864, PETROF is the largest Czech manufacturer of acoustic pianos and one of Europe’s oldest family-owned piano makers, with a tradition spanning more than 160 years.

Representing PETROF at the convention were CEO Anna Petrof Prousková and Sales Manager Kryštof Makovec, who traveled from the Czech Republic to share PETROF’s rich heritage, present its instruments, and engage with piano technicians, dealers, and music professionals from across the United States. They were joined by Andrew Deogracias of Vaulted Keys, PETROF’s DMV-area dealer, and the Cultural Attaché of the Czech Embassy, Tereza Janáková.

If you’re attending the PTG Convention, be sure to stop by and experience these remarkable Czech pianos for yourself! 🇨🇿🎹
