A virtual tribute to the heroes who fought for democracy in Hungary
We wish all the best to our American friends on this 4th of July!
Today, we remember the heroes and martyrs of the 1848-1849 Hungarian Revolution and Freedom Fight and commemorate the 30th anniversary of the unveiling of the congressional statue of Hungarian Governor Lajos Kossuth at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. On this very special occasion, let’s dive into the history behind one of only four busts (Wallenberg, Churchill, Havel, Kossuth) honoring non-Americans in the Capitol, which was offered to U.S. Congress to celebrate and commemorate the friendship and shared values between the peoples of the United States and of Hungary. Bátori József cserkészcsapat - Hungarian Scouts of Washington, a Hungarian Academy - Washingtoni Magyar Iskola és Óvodaval és az American Hungarian Federation -nel együttműködésben szervezett. Az esemény létrejöttét a Hungarian American Cultural Association is támogatta.
