Comprising six foundation models ranging from 0.9 billion to 375 billion parameters, K2 Horizon is the largest fully open-source AI release to date.

US startups are gaining a new pathway into the UAE’s fast-growing AI ecosystem through a partnership between the UAE's Artificial Intelligence Office and Mastercard’s Center for Advanced AI and Cyber Technology in Dubai.

The inaugural Mastercard Lighthouse UAE accelerator has selected six high-potential startups — including San Francisco-based Loyyal — to scale agentic AI solutions in financial services through intensive mentorship and access to Mastercard’s global network of financial institutions and investors.

The program creates a direct bridge between American innovation and opportunities in the UAE, further strengthening the technology partnership.

The world of Arrakis in Dune: Part Three was filmed in Abu Dhabi's Liwa Desert, with Emirati talent at its heart. Mohammed F. Mostafa, an Emirati stunt performer, was among more than 600 UAE-based individuals who worked on the film's 31-day shoot alongside director Denis Villeneuve, from local crew and stunt performers to interns and creative industry professionals.

"I'm grateful and proud to be in this position to represent the UAE," Mostafa said. "They don't have to fly across the world to do it. They can do it in their own backyard."
