We remember the 10 U.S. Navy Sailors that died on the USS John S. McCain, a United States Navy warship. On August 21, 2017, the USS McCain was involved in a collision with the Liberian-flagged tanker Alnic MC off the coast of Singapore and Malaysia, east of the Strait of Malacca. NEVER FORGOTTEN

Navy Gold Star Coordinator Jeannine Sataua joined Fleet & Family Support Center San Diego and more than 50 military and community resource providers at the 2026 Annual FFSC Resource Expo. With San Diego home to one of the nation’s largest military populations, events like this are vital to keeping Gold Star and military families connected, informed, and supported. More than 100 families connected directly with providers and learned about available resources. Navy Gold Star highlighted the “Just In Case Paperwork” training, while Ombudsmen appreciated the “Just In Case” Readiness Checklist—a practical tool to help families organize important legal, financial, and personal affairs. It was a wonderful evening of connection, community, and support. We’re grateful for everyone who continues to serve and stand alongside our Gold Star Families and military families.
