Join our office for the 3rd Annual Gun Violence Vigil, Because They Lived! on Wednesday, June 10 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church, 800 S. Genesee St., Waukegan, IL

This gathering will focus on honoring and celebrating the memories of those lost to gun violence while creating space for individuals, families, and communities impacted by violence to come together in support, reflection, and healing. The program welcomes all people, all ages, and all faith backgrounds. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Today is . We to honor victims and survivors of gun violence and amplify awareness of gun violence prevention.

Yesterday, we honored victims and survivors of gun violence with the 4th Annual Aim for Peace event. We are focused on bringing the community together to raise awareness around violence prevention and to encourage all residents to imagine a safer future.

Many thanks to Boys & Girls Club of Lake County, IL and A Safe Place/Lake County Crisis Center for hosting this annual event, City of Waukegan for their support and participation, and to all the other community organizations for making it a great success each year!

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Lake County Gun Violence Prevention Initiative (GVPI) hosted its first-ever “GVPIx Talk: Mental Health Matters” last Thursday, an engaging TED Talk-style event that brought our community together for an evening of learning, reflection, and meaningful conversation. Six speakers shared their stories about mental health and resilience.

Thank you to everyone who attended. We are grateful for all those who are committed to reducing the stigma and raising awareness on mental health.

Our office remains committed to continue our efforts inside and outside of the courthouse to raise community awareness and to expand access to treatment through our mental health court program and our new pilot deflection programs.

Today, Assistant State’s Attorney Kyle Doyle was recognized by the FBI - Chicago for her outstanding work as the lead prosecutor of the Lake County Human Trafficking Task Force. With her dedication and the strong partnerships with law enforcement agencies and community organizations, the Task Force has made an impact on many lives. We are proud of ASA Doyle and grateful for all the professionals who work to support survivors, find traffickers, and hold accountable anyone who would exploit others for their own profit.
