A state-certified, nationally accredited residential facility for boys ages 6-12 who have been removed from their home by WV DHHR due to emotional and psychological problems often as a results of abuse/neglect. Today we celebrate Marcus, who has been an important part of the St. John’s Home for Children family for many years.

As one of our dedicated Youth Care Workers and School Liaison, Marcus goes above and beyond for our boys and our entire team. Kind, caring, and compassionate are just a few of the words that describe him.

Marcus is always looking out for others and is often the first to put someone else’s needs before his own. We are grateful for the positive impact he continues to make at St. John’s every day.

A First Steelers Game to Remember

One of our lucky boys and members of our staff had the opportunity to attend a Pittsburgh Steelers preseason game thanks to Tickets for Kids.

It was his first Steelers game, and the excitement started well before kickoff with a ride on the Gateway Clipper over to the stadium. From the boat ride to experiencing the energy of the game in person, it was a day filled with firsts and plenty of excitement.

Learning About Penguins at the National Aviary

Our boys enjoyed spending time in the classroom at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh where they learned all kinds of interesting facts about penguins.

The highlight of the experience was getting the chance to see the penguins up close and even pet them.

It was a great day of hands-on learning, new experiences, and memories our boys will carry with them for a long time.

At St. John’s Home for Children, we believe in teaching our boys the importance of giving back to the community that gives so much to them. Every day, our community shows our boys kindness, love, and support, and we are grateful for every opportunity to help them understand the importance of paying that kindness forward.

Our boys were so excited to pack backpacks for children in our community who may be in need. We are incredibly proud of them for embracing this opportunity to help others. Their kindness, compassion, and generosity brought hope to children in our community and gave our boys the joy of knowing they made a difference.

We are proud to see our boys learning that even the smallest act of kindness can have a meaningful impact. Their willingness to give back reminds us all of the power of compassion, generosity, and community.

One way to turn aspirations into action is by using SMART goals: goals that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound. This approach helps break big dreams into manageable steps, making progress easier to see and celebrate.
