The check for $12,798 was presented to members of the committee, including Brenda Hollingsworth, Molly Clause, Helen Sellers, Joan Acela, and County Supervisor Diane Fitch. It was presented by GMCCF board member Julie Feirer.

Our second grant check has been presented to the Covered Bridges Scenic Byway Council for the creation of six wayside exhibits near each of our covered bridges to share the details of their history with visitors. The check for $7,253 was presented by GMCCF Board President Jerry Parkin and accepted by Teddi Yaeger, administrator of the Byway and Tourism Director for the Madison County Chamber of Commerce.

Wrapping up our virtual 2020 grant check presentations is a "bonus" check! Having the ability to spend a percentage of our endowment funds over and above our allotted funds each year, we have committed $15,000 over a three year period to the Madison County Conservation Center project. The first of three checks for $5,000 was delivered to Naturalist Amy Warnke and Parks Director Jim Liechty by GMCCF board member Jared McDonald. Congratulations!

Our second virtual grant check presentation goes to the Madison County Master Gardeners, to help with sidewalk accessibility to the new Storybook Gardens at the Library. Is your organization working on a grant application? At this time we are planning to keep our previously scheduled due date of March 27th. However, for those who prefer to submit them by mail instead of in-person, we will also consider grants that are POSTMARKED by March 27th. For those who would like to submit them to Tom Leners in person, he will be at his office at 1217 N. 6th Ave, Suite 3 (near Cabin Coffee) from 9am to noon and 1pm to 4pm, Monday-Friday of next week. One visitor in the building at a time, please (you can see through the glass in front). Also, watch for a designated drop-off area on outside Tom's office. Call 515-462-1891 if you have any questions, and remember you can download and print your application at http://madisoncountyfoundation.org/. If any changes are made to our grant schedule, we will post it on the website and share it here on Facebook. Thank you to all our local organizations for your work, especially those that are striving to take care of our citizens at this difficult time.

The Greater Madison County Community Foundation is a charitable foundation created by and for local citizens to improve the quality of life in Madison County, Iowa. GMCCF currently has one granting cycle each year. We accept grant applications from charitable projects and programs impacting a wide range of needs in the community: arts/culture/humanities, human services, education, environment/animals, public/society benefit, health, and more.
