💧 CAN WE ACCESS YOUR WATER WHEN IT MATTERS?

During a bush fire, water supplies may be unavailable or there simply may not be enough water nearby for firefighting.

A Static Water Supply (SWS) is a reliable source of water that firefighters may be able to use during an emergency. This could include:

• Dams
• Swimming pools
• Water tanks
• Creeks or other suitable water supplies

If you have a suitable water supply on your property, make sure we can find it and access it. NSW RFS Static Water Supply signs can also be used to identify suitable firefighting water supplies from the road.

Knowing where reliable water supplies are located can be extremely valuable to firefighters during a bush fire.

Come and have a chat with us at Get Ready Weekend on Sunday 20 September from 10am to 2pm and let us know about water supplies on your property or around our local area.

Practice makes perfect! 🚒

At today’s monthly training, members worked through a simulated motor vehicle accident/ car fire, covering everything from responding and arriving on scene through to safely managing the incident.

It was a great opportunity to refresh procedures, communications and the different roles involved, with a great turnout allowing us to fully crew all of our trucks. A big thanks to our Group Officer for joining us and assisting with communications.

Training was followed by our quarterly General Meeting, where members discussed brigade business and continued planning for our upcoming Get Ready Weekend and 75th Anniversary celebrations! 🔥

🏡 CAN WE FIND YOU WHEN IT MATTERS?

In an emergency, every second counts.

Make sure your property number is clearly visible from the road and your entrance can be easily identified by emergency services.

This is particularly important in rural areas where properties can be difficult to locate, especially at night, in smoke or during a fast moving bush fire.

Take a few minutes to check your property number and signage. Is it visible from both directions? Is it obscured by vegetation? Could someone who has never been to your property before easily find the correct entrance?

Clear property identification helps us get to the right place faster when it matters most.

Come and have a chat with us at Get Ready Weekend on Sunday 20 September from 10am to 2pm about your property and preparing for the coming fire season.

Today, AFAC News released the Bushfire Seasonal Outlook for Spring. NSW experienced unseasonably warm conditions over winter, while rainfall has been variable. With parts of northern and south-eastern NSW receiving below-average rainfall, these areas are entering spring drier than usual.

Forecasts for early spring continue to point to below-average rainfall and unusually warm conditions with fuels expected to continue drying across NSW. The highest risk is expected to be in northern and south-eastern NSW, as these areas are already rapidly drying out. Forested areas in these regions are experiencing high fuel loads and are dense and well-connected, which is of particular concern.

While fire risk is expected to be elevated through early spring, rainfall prospects for late spring into early summer have shifted to a slightly wetter outlook, although some uncertainty remains.

If you live, work, or travel through bush fire-prone areas, ensure you are prepared. Review and discuss your bush fire survival plan so you know what to do if threatened by fire.

With the upcoming fire season getting closer, Mullamuddy Bushfire Brigade is looking for new volunteers to join our team.

If you’ve ever thought about joining the NSW RFS, now is a great time to get involved. Getting started now gives us time to help you through the joining process and get your training underway before the fire season.

Being part of the RFS isn’t just about fighting fires. There are plenty of opportunities to learn new skills, meet new people, help protect your local community and be part of a great team.

📍 Live in the Mullamuddy Brigade area?
Our area includes Apple Tree Flat, Bocoble, Burrundulla, Carcalgong, Cudgegong, Green Gully, Mount Frome, Mullamuddy, Queens Pinch, Riverlea and Spring Flat.

👋 Want to come and have a look?
We’ll be at the station from 9am on Sunday 30 August for training and maintenance, followed by our General Meeting at 10:30am. It’s a great opportunity to come along, meet the team, have a look around and find out what’s involved.

Otherwise, simply send our page a message and we’ll help you get started.

Mullamuddy Bushfire Brigade 75th Anniversary 🔥

In 2027, our brigade will celebrate 75 years of volunteer service to our community.
Planning is now underway for this milestone and we need your help!

We're looking for old photographs, newspaper clippings, stories, memorabilia and historical records from throughout the brigade's history. We'd also love to hear from former members and their families who may be interested in attending the celebrations.

As part of the anniversary, we'll also be unveiling an Honour Board. We're still trying to fill in a few gaps for Captains, Senior Deputy Captains, Presidents and Secretaries prior to 1985. If you have any information, records or memories that could help, we'd love to hear from you.

If you'd like to contribute or be kept in the loop, comment below or send us a message, or email us at [email protected]

More details about the celebration will be shared in the coming months. We look forward to celebrating with you all!

Today, Monday 27 July 2026, the AusAlert system will be tested across Australia, with an alert being sent to all compatible mobile devices within NSW at 2pm.

If your device receives the AusAlert national test, it will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound for about 10 seconds before stopping, even if your device is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.

Out and about for today’s monthly training! 🚒

Newer members had an opportunity to learn more about our brigade area as we drove around near Windamere and Riverlea areas, checking hydrants, marking water points and identifying safe areas in case of fires.
This is the first of a couple training sessions as we make our way around our brigade area.

There is still time to join up before the coming fire season. If it’s something you have thought about, there is no better time than now!

It’s been great to have a few landholders in our brigade area reach out over the last few months to learn more about preparing their properties over the cooler months and burning safely.

If you are unsure on what to do, please reach out and we can have a chat! 🔥
