Our 2026 Seniors Appreciation event will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the Peers Multiplex.

🕛Schedule:
10:00 am - Doors Open
10:30 am - Dignitaries Welcome
11:00 am - Keep It Neat Presentation (Daina Benson will be speaking about downsizing and decluttering)
12:15 pm - Catered Meal by The Poppy Grill
1:15 pm - Elmer Riehl and his band
2:15 pm - Closing Remarks and Door Prizes

The event will also feature information tables from Caregivers Alberta, the WEE Food Bank, Lobstick Literacy and Learning Society, the Yellowhead County Libraries, and more.

This week’s progress:
✔️ Continued slab preparation for the competition pool tank
✔️ Continued forming and concrete pours for the competition pool
✔️ Continued steel stud framing and parapet work in the Aquatic Building
✔️ Began exterior drywall installation on the Aquatic Building
✔️ Continued installation of parapet membrane in the Aquatic Building
✔️ Deck installation completed in the new gymnasium mechanical room and walking track
✔️ Continued mechanical rough-in work in the change room area
✔️ Continued slab preparation for ramp restoration in the existing Olympia Room
✔️ Continued installation of the new ice plant system
✔️ Continued electrical work in the existing Olympia Room
✔️ Continued abatement work in the existing Memorial Arena
✔️ Continued subgrade preparation in the new arena dressing room
✔️ Began installation of mechanical piping and ductwork in the new arena

Next week’s plan:
➡️ Continue forming and concrete pours for the competition pool
➡️ Concrete pour of the competition pool slab
➡️ Continue parapet and steel stud framing in the Aquatic Building
➡️ Begin topping work in the second-floor mechanical room
➡️ Continue work on the new ice plant system
➡️ Continue electrical work in the existing Olympia Room
➡️ Continue mechanical work in the existing Memorial Arena
➡️ Continue subgrade preparation in the new arena dressing room

Paddleboard Yoga is BACK this summer!

Join us at Millers Lake on June 3, 11, 17, 24, and July 8, 22, and 29 at 7pm SHARP to enjoy this beginner-friendly yoga class - no paddleboard or yoga experience needed!

$10 per class, pre-registration required. Book your spot directly with Renae at 780-728-5464. There are a limited number of boards to borrow so let her know if you'll need one.

Meet at the East End of Millers Lake (by the playground) and please arrive early enough to be on the water by 7pm. Personal floatation devices/lifejackets are mandatory. We will have some available to borrow but please bring your own if possible. Please note, classes are weather-dependent.

Hamlet Sprinkler Protection Planning starts June 13 in Yellowhead County

Scheduled to start June 13, 2026, Sea Hawk Consulting will be in various County Hamlets doing sprinkler protection planning.

Consultants will be on foot scouting potential sprinkler and hose line locations, identifying water sources, and may also use drones to assist in the planning process.

This work is proactive planning only and part of our ongoing preparedness efforts.

Reporting to the General Manager of Community Services, the Parks and Recreation Supervisor is responsible for the delivery of community parks and recreation services in Yellowhead County. This position oversees a team of individuals consisting of parks maintenance, recreation program and seasonal worker personnel including pool staff and parks labourers, ensuring the provision of high-quality services and maintenance of facilities. The Parks and Recreation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the general operation of parks, recreational facilities, and community programs. This role oversees the planning and implementation of recreational events and promotion of community engagement and well-being. This position plays a vital role in fostering community involvement and promoting healthy lifestyles through recreational opportunities.

Join us for a Life Skills Summer Camp this summer! We are offering sessions in both Peers and Carrot Creek!

This program will teach youth a variety of life skills. Each session will include a cooking portion. Skills include cooking, meal planning, laundry, basic sewing, kitchen safety, budgeting, and more!

Details: Ages 12-15, $5 per session.

Carrot Creek Hall: July 13, 20, 27 from 11am - 2:30pm
Peers Multiplex: July 15, 22, 29 & August 5 from 11am - 2pm
